Re: Sudan on alert over Egypt's military strike on Ethiopia
Fake news.
Egypt will not launch unilateral military attack against Ethiopia. It is just sabbrerattling on their part. They've always wanted someone else do the fighting.
Besides, Saudi Arabia has the ear of Trump, and the House of Saud is settling score with Sissi admin after he allied with Iran on the Syrian civil war. In this dam, Saudi Arabia is a big investor. It is doubtful they'd let Sissi destroy it.

sahal80, why is Sudan siding with Ethiopia? In the event of a conflict, wouldn't EU and USA intervene to help Ethiopia as they always do?

1. They have a border dispute (Sudan and Egypt) http://www.sudantribune.com/spip.php?article62390
2. Ethiopia promised to sell Sudan cheap electricity, cease support for South Sudan, and to expel any opposition who tries to make a presence in Ethiopia (Sudan does the same).

Re: Sudan on alert over Egypt's military strike on Ethiopia
In Sudan politics r divided along two lines; pro Egypt camp and anti-Egypt camap the same way lebanese r divided on syria where the Saudi backed sunnis are against her but the christians and the shiites r allied with syria. this is the reason why the western media is pro assad because syria entered lebanon to save the christians
"The Christians, After their rescue at the hands of the Syrians from subjection and slaughter by the PLO and the Lebanese Moslems"
this man
https://www.britannica.com/biography/Ismail-Pasha
was helping the muslims of the horn against abysinia and was controlling massawa, united Egypt and Sudan
modern Egypt is based on his legacy. Sudan had two political sufi sects one against this legacy and the other was a pro unity with egyt therefore the unionist party of sudan who called a unity with Egypt
the Ethiopians has always been on the side of the anti-Egypt regimes like sadiq al mahdi and al bashir bc Egypt sees Sudan as part of her and uses the opposition
khartoum had let south Sudan go to pressure on Egypt, facilitated by Ethiopia then the christian world have started dealing with the sudanese govt, so addis ababa is a diplomatic window for Sudan while Egypt was using the west to remove the regime
now Egypt and Uganda support jubba against the rebels backed by khartoum
Ethiopia uses IGAD to control south Sudan so they want to send a peacekeeping forces to jubba so they can bring bsck riyak machar to the capital and Egypt and jubba is against this
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.tesf ... sudan/amp/
so thats why khartoum is aligned with addis ababa. another reason both are against Eritrea
Ethiopia used to give the sudanese army a safe passage to south sudan in the 90s(secretly)
since the amhara upraising Sudan has been using more addis by implements khartoum policies in Jubba
