Breaking - Ethiopia owns 19% of Berbera port
Somaliland goverment just sold it self out. ''Somaliland officials say DP World has given 19% of its 65% share to Ethiopia, insisting company has right to do so; Somaliland owns 35%....DP World won the Berbera port concession last yr, it lasts for 30 yrs to manage and develop, with a 10-yr automatic extension per statement.'' http://www.voasomali.com/a/3850734.html

19% of 65% is 10.4%.
Get your sums right.
As for the topic. If Ethiopia invests in the port, we welcome it.
We welcome anything to increase the traffic going through Berbera which will
in the long run benefit SL and its people.

Whatever happened to "President Farmajo" is going to stop it and save the day? Hahahaha...
Somaliland kept 35% and the remaining to DP so it can take 65% of the funding/investment load but DP brought in Ethiopia which means Ethiopia now provides something like almost $84m.
SL almost $155m and DP almost $203m
That's the initial joint venture $441m (155 + 203 + 84 *rounded up*)
In another words it's better to hold 35% of 100 million + 4 million (104m) market than to hold 100% of a 4 million market.
If every individual was a dollar 100% of 4m is $4m.
35% of 100m is $35m. Of course I would rather add extra $31m plus all the other spillover investments plus we make Wanlawein feel incapable along the way.
In the future Berbera will be much bigger port than anything in Somalia.

Bizarre revelation so we own the port DP comes along to supposedly invest 441 million, and we pay 155 million and we get 35% of our own port, DP pays 55 million more then us and they get 65% and sell 19% to Ethiopia for 84 million.AwRastaale wrote: Sun May 14, 2017 7:42 am Whatever happened to "President Farmajo" is going to stop it and save the day? So DP only invested 55 million to own Berbera for the next 30 years.

We welcome anything to increase the traffic going through Berbera which will
in the long run benefit SL and its people.
They brought the shares from the UAE without your permission because the do not need it, so they now own 19% of its revenue that would have gone to the Arabs. This is part of a larger plan for Ethiopia the buy up the rest of the 35% and you are welcoming it.

Learn how to count. 65% subtract 19% is 46%.
