My Experience on Somali Message Boards
I have been browsing Somali forums for a good year now. I can say that I have had a very interesting experience on them. I have encountered some of the strangest personalities, some of them being prolific trolls, many others that are hateful people that definitely aren't be succeeding in life, and a select few that exhibit a higher order of intelligence and insight (the likes of Gurey25, FAH123, jugjugwacwac, and finally something zubeir??). Unfortunately, the second group (the hateful type) is the most numerous, followed by the first (the trolls), and then the third (the intellectuals).
Sadly, the content of many of the threads on this forum would portray Somalis as tribal zealots. The amount of times I have seen people warmongering or calling for genocide in the name of clan, whether it be done jokingly, is actually quite alarming. The vast majority of the posts on this forum are in contravention of the rules, which funnily enough, I only read just before I started making this post. And then there is the issue of the Somali athiests that are running a muck on Somali forums, giving the perception that the Somali people are very unreligious. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this behaviour, it is to be expected given the anonymity of the users, and the fact that weirdos generally do gravitate towards internet forums.
Very seldom have I encountered threads, in which the likes of Gurey, Fah and Jugjug, share wonderful insight. The sight of a threads that showcase great discussions about politics (Somali or the World), life, religion, or health are just as infrequent. These are the threads that have kept me coming back to the forum, some of them being timeless (I have gone back to them in the past).
I still remember when I joined this site. I was very young and impressionable, and was easily affected by the provocations and the qabyaalad. As a result, I have made many disgusting comments, all which I regret. I worry that others may be influenced by my comments in the same regard as I was. I would actually be quite happy if my posts were deleted, and my account if need be.
What I can't deny is that I have learned a lot about Somali politics, culture, and history through these forums, especially this one.
Fortunately, I have recovered from my qabyaalad (it was never extreme). I no longer have a poor perception of Habar Gidirs, and I no longer mistrust them and their clan state, despite the constant mischief. The fitnah does not come from the people as I had believed for sometime. I know understand that Somalis in Somalia do not ascribe tribalism the same way the Somali diaspora do, and that they are actually quite fed up with the status quo. I nnow know that this mischief is as a result of evil leadership and a generally uneducated population. Unsurpringly, these issues affect all Somali clans, and has affected us throughout most of our history. The sheer number of clan conflicts and bloodfueds that Somali clans have gone through the ages is testament to this. I can even recount 5 major conflicts that my clan of Reer Bicidyahan have undergone in the last 80 years.
I hope to see this forum, or a new somali forum, become a Somali forum for Somali/Somalilander nationalists. A forum that is heavily moderated, protects the reputation of the Somali people, and stops the proliferation of useless/unhelpful clan rhetoric.

See you soon!

Thanks champ.
Re: My Experience on Somali Message Boards
Haha. It was my bad. I misunderstood. I edited the comment but you saw it too quickly.
The posts I made the last few days were Quite provocative, they weren't really qabiliist. I made one of them to ridicule/atagonise the general caydiid fanbois, and I made another post about recommendations for farmaajo. The latter had only one comment in the post that was provocative. It was there to liven the thread up given the lack of activity these days.
The worst of my posts are the old ones. The recent ones are more of the FKD, rather that clan rhetoric.

I don't buy it he claims to be a kid yet he already has animosity towards habar gidir? How were you born with it or your majeerteen family fed you their hate.
Another strange thing is he is Biiciidyahan a majeerteen sub clan that doesn't even border h.gidir.

Hash
Good for u.
If qabilism is your illness, and u trying to recover from it--I am happy for u. But let me inform u that --it is OK. Qabyalism is a norm. It is a badge of honor as a Somali. I am very disappointed at what Fah has turned Somalinet forum into timid low traffic boringness. He censorship is UNamerican. Undemocratic. If I were u, I will advice u to go for it. Hate any qabil u want. Be yourself. Just u hate Habar Gidir---- Xplaya hates Majerten. I Say-- go for it--indulge in it. Live!
PS r u Habasha Somali ? gurey hates Ethiopians.
Good for u.
