As a woman with "darker" skin, I can tell you I have definitely heard a variation of these same sentiments countless times or made to feel less beautiful simply because of my skin tone. Truth be told, it takes a conscious process of self-love to see the beauty in yourself and not give into these skin lightening products when it seems like every other girl has either conformed or are naturally lighter.![]()
You said it sister!!EvolSyawla wrote: Tue May 23, 2017 10:40 am All these stupid politics aside, its great to see so many men being able to honestly see what is wrong with our women.
You guys aren't getting the message.
You want to be proud of your Somalinimo and yet your Somalinimo is trying to escape what a Somali is. What do you think will happen? We teach that it is important to be looking up to the compliments of cadeey when you know that it is absolute nonsense you're repeating.
It is rare that I hear a man looking for darker skin. To have to argue with a mother that the color of her daughter is not a bad thing and it's okay...she married a darker man and whether or not she bleached, her daughter is dark skinned. May Allah help her, she sounded ready to buy the bleach as soon as the infant was 'old enough'...
Walahi I don't know what kind of fucked up relatives' mentalities I'd have to be fighting if I wasn't light skinned. How sick is that?? Subhanallah. I can't imagine, however I am a woman and do know the pressures of being light-skinned to the point of being confused for an Arab very personally, so how could you honestly understand what's happening with our women? HOW can you even joke about it??
You want to make fun of a our women for having these ideas and feelings, but please count your top 5 Somalis from down the street (or women you'd honestly be interested in) and see how many of them would be considered 'cadeey'.
Leave us alone and understand the problems facing our community come from both ends without jumping to assuming 'victim mentality'.
I guarantee you the reason Somali Toronto women can't find a good Somali Toronto man is because you ingrates haven't learned what it takes to hold down a good Muslim woman. Why do you have to bring up where they are from? Don't blame them, blame the communities of jane and finch, jane and wilson, scarborough, mount olive, jamestown, jungle etc and the countless salons offering bleach to skin or hair to please the local brothers from here and there and etc, etc and ET EFFING C.
I know women who are even beginning to marry 'organic' Somali men from Somalia. Your bitchasses from the west are either giving up and marrying non-Somali women/wanting to or you're in jail/on bail/on probation/not working to the potential your father did.
Allah created us women, mothers and wives to be forgiving. May Allah one day show you faraxs what our expectations (and your lives) would be like if we were as basic and animistic and unforgiving as many of our men are.
