Detectives hunting the killers of police officer Sharon Beshenivsky expect to make "significant developments" soon, Britain's most senior policeman said.
Sir Ian Blair's comments followed an announcement from West Yorkshire Police that they were "actively seeking" three men in connection with the shooting of 38-year-old Pc Beshenivsky and her colleague Teresa Milburn, 37, in Bradford on Friday.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner confirmed that his officers, including specialist units, were providing a "significant amount" of support to their West Yorkshire colleagues as the focus of the investigation remained in the capital.

More polls » Five men and a woman were arrested in south-east London on Saturday and transported north in a dramatic armed convoy.
But the bailing of a 31-year-old man meant all six have now been released by West Yorkshire Police. The men have all been freed on bail pending further inquiries and the 18-year-old woman was released without charge.
Sir Ian said: "We are involved in a significant amount of operational activity in support of West Yorkshire Police.
"We are liaising extremely closely with their investigation and we expect some significant developments in the next 24 hours or so.
"We need to support West Yorkshire over this dreadful event and we are doing that to the best of our ability."
Asked if this operational activity was directed at the Somali community, the commissioner replied: "It is others than just the Somali community. There are a number of communities involved in this.
"These appear to be fairly chaotic gangs, they coalesce and separate."
