Faroole in many ways is the man behind federalism in Somalia, under his reign every gov in Mogadishu has crumbled if they didnt get the blessing of his gov in Puntland. We remember his political battles with sheikh sharif & as well as Qoslaaye. Faroole was infact instrumental in the removal of farmaajo as a somali pm in the Kampala accords.

However federalism in Somalia is an unfinished project, indeed the constitution is unfinished & whoever gets the power to shape the constitution is the one that will shape Somalia.

Faroole has been working secretly behind the scenes since farmaajos election as an MP. His eyes were fixed on the position as Chairman of Federal Parliament's Joint Constitutional Review Commission.

This position is EXTREMELY important because if faroole was elected into this position he would have a big say in how the constitution is shaped & therefore would seal the future of Puntland as untouchable by ANY gov in Mogadishu.


All week there were whispers of Faroole having major support for this position & that the cat was in the bag & fate already sealed.

Well today, everything went south (pun intended lol) , faroole LOST that position. This effectively means that he WONT be part of any changes on the constitution, which in turn means the door is open for puntland to be reigned in, in the near future. Resource sharing agreements & aswell as integrating the military & weakening the federal provisions will be on farmaajos agenda.


It seems like the end of the road for Farooles long political battle. Will he return to puntland?

That didn't work so I predict his next plan is to run for president of Puntland and use his cronies in Puntlands government to pressure gaas hold fair elections.
