all the places that separated from somalia when siad barre military regime was kicked out and war broke out in 1991 such as "somaliland""jubbaland""puntland".But nobody calls it greater somalia it isn't out their like the word "somalia" you won't see it on western tv nobody on western tv will describe somaliland a country even though it looks like one and has everything to make one,if something happened in somaliland the american news reporter will say "this happened in the one of the regions in somalia" which is wrong.

Somaliland and Somalia joined to become one nation when they got their independence, Djibouti didn't get its independence until almost a decade later, NFD and Kiilka Shanaad never got their independence.

the united nation that we all recognize from maps had all kind of names from Somali Republic, to Somali democratic republic, but colloquially everyone still referred to the nation as Somalia, and the capital was in the former colony of Italian Somaliland.

During Barre regime Kiilka Shanaad was about to be brought into the fold of Somalia bringing us closer to Somaliweyn dream, but it failed after Cuba, Russia, and couple of Arab nations sided with Ethiopia.

Today Somalia is split up in clan state, you have SL which is pursuing recognition as an independent state, we have PL which is basically doing the same while paying lip service to the Federal Government of Somalia, and then you have other clan states such as GL, Hiirshabelle, SW state, Jubaland which are not pursuing independence.

Somaliweyn is highly unlikely in our lifetime because even Somalia has broken up into mini-clanstates

The issue with Somaliweyn is us and not lands, we still believe it's about land but it's not, it's about us not being united and not thinking alike. We are still hung in this fake European idea that land makes people united when it's not which is why Europeans put multiple lands belonging to different tribes together to form countries because they wanted these people to be divided and not united. So having a continuous landmass is good but it does not make people united, it's a mindset and a common purpose that makes people united and it transcends physical location, for instance, look at the Jews, they are scattered all over the world but they still are united and have that mindset that makes them united no matter where they are, we are not like that.
