Are these folks Dir or Oromos? They live with us in Gabiley province but their origins are unknown.

Those who r saying akisho/jaarso etc r somalis want the Ethiopiazation of the Somali regions
Of course i would like to increase the Somali population but like the gulf arabs somali identity is based on qabiil lines and these guys want to settle/stay as Oromo and each time r annexing new villages.

They are hybrid.
They are lost laangabyo that joined forces but now one side wants to pull the other towards Oromo while the other side wants to drag the other to the Somalis.
The Oromo side now out numbers the other. So they are Oromo majority.

Judging by their sub clan names they are definitely Oromo.Even the Gurgure are Oromo apparently

As Dir myself I allways heard that they were Dirs and some of them assimilated into oromos. Akisho

Akishe are somali but some marry oromo so once you marry outside language somali people consider you that other breed.
Jaarso marry oromo more often so they consider to be heavy influenced by oromo mixtured and shunned for it but somali and oromo are african muslims so it doesnt make a difference.

They speak Somali - Therefore they are Somali.
