Machallah, Buuhoodle, the sprawling metropolis of SSC state of Somalia, has grown rapidly both in size and population. Alow dhowr this blessed city and its people.
Re: The blessed City of Buuhoodle
We should build a factory or help the people to start farming (digging wells/giving them Turkish seeds)

Couple years back nearly all my abtis in somalia were nomads and now all of them moved to buuhoodle
Only couple are raising their camels but they might reconsider in future

Nice . Beautiful land.
Re: The blessed City of Buuhoodle
Peace and blessings be upon the sacred city of Buuhoodle and its indomitable people, the home of the Dervishes, the birthplace of Al Mujaahid Seyyid Maxamed Cabdille Xassan, the well of Somali poetry, watered by the blood of thousands of Somalis who fought for their honor, dignity and independence, and that of all Somali wayn, and continue to fight to this day.May the blessings and favour of God descend on the city and its people, may he grant them peace and prosperity.
All Dhulbahante diaspora should invest in this city and invite other Somalis of goodwill to Buuhoodle. All efforts should be done to safeguard it's unique place in Somali history. I have no doubt it will become the biggest Somali city in the Hawd .
Canuck, pastoralism is the most viable mode of production in Somalia, especially the Hawd region. We should encourage and support it, it has a nd will continue to sustain the lives and economies of the people for centuries to come. All it needs is modern support in terms of veterinary services and pre and post production support and better marketing. It should be developed as the livestock centre of the area with modern slaughterhouses, markets etc.
There is nothing wrong with doing dryland farming to diversify the economy, but this can be done only when the water challenges are adressed. And why Turkish seed? There are enough examples of dryland crops and seeds in Africa, especially the Sahel, you don't need to look towards Turkey which has no experience with dryland farming. These seeds can be accessed from Somali itself and the neighbouring countries with dryland farming experience. Examples of dryland crops that are drought tolerant and require little rain or water are:
Sorghum, millet, cow peas, cassava, sweet potato, mung beans, lablab beans, fonio, teff,African rice, sesame and many others as well as tree crops such as date palms, figs, tamarind, guava, pomegranate, pawpaw etc , various ingegenous vegetables as well as useful tree like neem, senna, red gum, melia and the preservation a and planting of indegenous trees like the acacias, and several Somali species that have proved their resilience over time.
Most of this knowledge is available online and in research universities in Asia, and Africa, where problems of dryland have been adressed. Turkey may be good in many things , but I think this is not one of their areas of expertise.
This advice goes , of course, to all Somali regions, since we largely share the same arid terrain.

Indeed we do need to invest in the agriculture and industrial sectors to provide jobs and amplify the economic output of the city. However, its of paramount importance that we firstly improve the infrastructure. We can commence by constructing a tarmac road from Buuhoode to Gumeys and modernising Buuhoodle airport to become a function international airport.

Re: The blessed City of Buuhoodle
Lkn we hve one problem. every subclans in hawdka are building settlements outside of buuhoodle rather than settling in buuhoodle. We have soo many settlements settled by one subclan which we could use to increasing population in buuhoodle.Sharmarke91 wrote: Mon Nov 13, 2017 2:06 pmThats right, and lot of pastoralists have relocated to the city due to the drought.formidable wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2017 9:49 am Sharmaake city is growing fast since a lot of nomads and tuulo folks are moving for better opportunities.

Like hagar and haygaag are moving to gocondhaale in numbers from ethiopia. khaalidka are settling into a new formed town north of horufadhi and are moving from tuuloyinka near qararo yare
I wish rather than making new settlements north of buuhoodle district they would settle in buuhoodle.
Its good for expansion since in gocondhaale you can hear adhaan from qorilugud but we are missing chance to increase the pops of buuhoodle. but our population in buuhoodle is good, we have more number than oodweyne and sheekh in togdheer thus making us second city in togdheer after burco

And your write people should settling Buuhoodle to increase the population of the city.
However, I agree with the expansion. We've already secured the border in the west. Galgal which is 2 KM from qorilugudis also our degaan, but we need to expand to the north west towards Caynba.
