Over 100 Somalis massacred in Oromo region of Ethiopia

Post by Talo alle udaa »

This is what is being reported from personal accounts of Somali families who are said to be trapped deep within Oromo territory. They number close to 10,000, and a group of them were rounded up and placed in one location before being attacked from all sides. These families have been living within the Oromo region for generations and are mostly pastoralist/nomads. They are currently on the brink of total annihilation and genocide in the Oromo region by intoxicated wild Oromo civilians and their local police who are out for revenge.

One Somali elder was asked whether they had spoken to Inna Iiley in Jigjiga to ask for help and he stated they were told there was nothing Jigjiga can do to help them. The inability of the Liyu police and the Federal army/police to intervene suggest the TPLF led Ethiopia wants this to happen and use this massacre and any subsequent fall out as a hammer with which to bring the Oromo Rebellion into submission by whole sale massacre of the Oromo by it's own military.

The things are turning for the worse in Ethiopia.

Stop lying to yourself and tell me what the Liyu police did to Oromos before the Ogadens were killed. In that area we had Dir Somalis and Jarso who identify as Somalis but the Ogadens cried to ENDF but Oromia's president told the army to leave his region since it's unconstitutional.

What did the Liyu do?
They burned 80 homes in villages and killed several people.

Oromo civilians and Oromia police will defend their land just like the Liyu defend their region. Are you forgetting we're talking about Oromia and not Somali region.

We will defend ourselves....

What can you learn from this?
Don't invade other people's land and don't burn their homes if you don't want to be killed.

No one is disputing the Liyu police killing Oromo civillians. The Somalis being killed are mixed and do not constitute just one tribe. The difference here is crimes committed by the Liyu police were done without any involvement of Somali civilians. What we are witnessing today in the Oromo region is a marriage between the State police and the local civilians arm-in-arm massacring Somalis.

If there is anything to learn form this is Oromo do not know how to protect defenseless civilians living amongst them. The Oromo also should know the Somalis are a tribal society and these large scale killings iftrue, will put the lives of many innocent Oromo at risk all across the globe.

This will only top after Illey and all of his family are arrested and Liyu is disbanded and all soldiers within the force arrested and the people displaced are returned to their homes. This is the fault of the sociopath in power inside Somali region.

The Somalis should understand peace with Oromo will only happen after Illey is in either imprison or dead.

We know who to kill
Ogadens and Garre

Just look at Dire Dawa and how peaceful Oromos and Dir coexist. The enemy is Ogaden and Garre so, we know about the tibal society. The undercover ONLF in Jijiga must be arrested. We know that Ogadens are in beds with TPLF and have created Liyu to wage wars into other lands and tribes of somalis also. Oromos have no problem with Isaac or Issa or Dir.

The victims are Dir/ issaq who married and lived with Oromo. Sorry for their bad situation but they shouldn’t have live with Oromo, plus they should have left the area since last massacre of Somalis in Oromia.

Ogaden Youth & Student Union

Press Release

Oromo militias have slaughtered 65 innocent Somali villagers in a government holding area in Gadulo, Balbalayti, a remote village on the Somali-Oromo border. Multiple reports indicate local Somali villagers, held in a supposedly safe military location set-up for civilians at risk of being caught in the middle of ethnic clashes between Oromo and Somalis (instigated by the Liyu Police), were escorted by the Ethiopian military for their own protection. It is understood, the 65 villagers - largely consisting of pastoralists and their families - were led to believe, falsely, they were under protection of the Ethiopian military. Further reports suggest the Oromo police had initially identified and rounded up Somali civilians at risk of reprisal attacks from Oromo militias, and despite being fully aware of the threat posed by the Oromo militias, failed to protect the Somali civilians who were killed indiscriminately.

The civilians, who were effectively remanded and held hostage by the Ethiopian military in the designated facility, were denied any opportunity to escape or defend themselves against militias already responsible for the massacre of thousands. To this end, both the Oromo police and the Ethiopian military were complicit in the massacre of the innocent and defenceless civilians by misleading and deceiving them into the false belief that they would protect them from what was a clear and evident threat.

Events have been unfolding since yesterday and continue to do so today according to local sources, Oromo militias continued their purge onto other villages such as Hagarooti where 98 civilians were killed, Ibsa and Barga where another 19 civilians lost their lives, Makaniti which has reported 5 deaths and at least 7 were killed in Mambisa. The majority of these civilians were killed in some of the most inhumane ways imaginable; being either burnt alive or butchered and subsequently forbidden from being buried, the intent being to instill fear into other villagers.

Ogaden Youth and Student Union vehemently condemns these ruthless and barbaric killings of which both the Oromo administration and the Ethiopian government are complicit. These heinous acts of killings have taken place amidst ongoing ethnic tensions between the Oromo and Somali communities which the TPLF are accused of fueling. Many have lost their lives throughout the course of this conflict, yet the events of the past few days represent a sharp and brutal escalation, and calls for a serious enquiry into this state sponsored massacre.

These ominous developments will have deep repercussions for Oromo govt and it's militias. It's is now highly likely the TPLF will use this massacre to silence the Oromo into submission and bring their state under military control. There are reports of heavy military equipment being moved into that region.

Inna Iilay will use to to prop up support and instill fear into local Somalis as their only savior from further Massacre.
