The Somali govt has detained 40 members of the UAE-trained soldiers and two officers, more could be arrested for raiding the home of Senator Abdi Qaybdid, chairman of the Parliamentary Constitutional Review Commission. UAE said it handed over command of the troops back in Nov.

Abdi Qaybid is a war criminal who actively partook in the Somali Civil War. He was fighting in the front lines between 1991-1993 in Mudug, Mogadishu, Lower Shebelle, Middle Shebelle, Middle Jubba, Lower Jubba and Gedo. He has blood on his hands. With that said, he has been elected by his own clansmen to represent them. Furthermore, with such a criminal history, it is not easy to trust such a man. I applaud the government in cracking down on the likes of Abdi Qaybid and conduct a full on investigations on them. I wouldn't be surprised if Abdi Qaybid is funneling money and weapons to Al Shabab and any anti-government elements in the south.
