Our three-folded burden, or blessing?
Us women, are carrying a 3-dimensions identity card thus being; 1.Women, 2. Black(Somali) 3. Muslim
This does unfortunatly however carry its fair share of negative reception and could also been seen as the main contributer to the ever growing sexist, racist and islamaphobic prejudices we come to face in our everyday lives. Again one distinguishable factor here is that all 3 are visible qualities in us which can not be covered/sealed in any shape or form.
Which brings to the question, who here as a female-somali-muslim can suggest a more effective approach to remove all negative connoations that surround such a beautiful variations of identies that to which we should grow to espouse and appreciate?
Or for those that do consider this mutifaced-identity as burden, how do you subjectively tackle the common prejudices?
Also would u say that one 'identity' holds more problems over the other?
Me personally, i see a stronger conflict with my colour/culture and my faith, these two almost overlap eachother in some sence, however they are recently becoming more of a problem for myself than anything else.
So women: Lets talk
(Guys feel free to comment, but dont blabber on, i want the women of somalinet to get involved)
