New York Times Covers Somaliland

Post by Prlnce »

ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will train Somaliland security forces as part of a deal to establish a military base in the semi-autonomous region, Somaliland's president said on Thursday.

UAE government officials could not immediately be reached for comment - but the UAE has committed to invest hundreds of million dollars in recent years in the territory on a strategically important stretch of coastline on the Gulf of Aden.

The UAE began construction last year of a base on a site at the airport of the Somaliland port city Berbera, and will be allowed to maintain a presence for 30 years. Berbera is less than 300 km (190 miles) south of war-torn Yemen, where UAE troops are fighting rebels as part of a Saudi-backed coalition.

President Muse Bihi Abdi said the UAE would train police and military in Somaliland, which wants independence from war-torn Somalia but is not recognized internationally. He said he expected the agreement to be finalised within two months.

"They have the resources and the knowledge," Abdi told Reuters in an interview in Abu Dhabi.

saudi political elite are angry at UAE unilateral adventurism.

saudi arabia= religious suuni point of view
egypt+ good old geopolitics
UAE confused (welcome to the world of think thanks to much information but rarley applicable)

PS: this uae thing confirms previous thread i made about the difference between the political culture of isaaq and the rest of the southern somalis.https://www.somalinet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=362195

Uae Kuwait are our strategic partners

you are not a country, strategic partnership is a legal term, you are territory of somalia.
you still use somalia calling code and Internet TLD.
bro you can have aspirations but dont fool yourself otherwise you creat your own reality thats is in contradiction to the international legal norm which you need.

wallahi, this whole somaliland project after all these years is satisfy isaaqs low self esteem and they do not understand international relations.
I remember a time in SNet when isaaqs were convinced that Britain was their ally and will help them get recognition until Britain opened a embassy inn somalia and recognised somalia borders

Eritrea got independence and south sudan, yet the isaaqs struggle with basic dispute with the federal government, like Foreign investment and Airspace

Typhooon we know international relations better than you and your people. It's just we believe we will not go to Mogadishu to get out recognition. We will get our recognition one away or the other. We have Ethiopia very powerful country in the region yeey Ethiopia maeredjnu . We wana show the world they are wasting their money and efforts in Mogadishu . Let Somalia bleed dry We will watch how you suffer bad governance international jihadist . We are busy on domestic front building a strong Somaliland fabric. We have the Arabs open for investment your a smart guy but since your a son off goita theodorus you will not give credit to Somaliland that we are winning and darood are losing

khalid lets not kid ourselfs, I am Herr Eaglehawk, i am very clear with my genocidal aspiration, I wish noting but calamity mayhem and destruction on somaliland/isaaq.

You see my friend khalid, inorder for me to archive my goals, somaliland or isaaq have to challenge somali state with vitriolic hate speech and relentless criisim of xamar, khalid do remember i am the guy that made this map( every isaaq kid should know this map this is the power somalis have over your kin.

wallahi somalis will never give isaaq independence and as closer you get we will sell the land because we have the legal mandate under international law(ethiopia will happily get berbera in return we get godey and lower ogaden regions)

you see khalid, Isaaq are the greatest bargaining chip to reolve the ethiopian somali border dispute, who cares about the berbera, hargeisa iyo burco, we rather get 6 million somalis in exchange for 1.5 idoors.

khalid unlike other somalis i believe somalis should learn to hate isaaq because only then can they move on from their iirational hate of ethiopia and nationalistic attachment to the idoor wagaashe people.

believe or not there are people in villa somalia who believe isaaqs are better off inside ethiopia..i swear am not joking.
faysal ali warabe made life easy for the likes of me.

khalidow,

remember i am marexaan, i might be german loving, melez zanawi admiring imperialist but at my core am marexaan.

if one thing you learned in somalinet is marexaan are good people machiavellian and strategically astute.

isaaq will never recover from the maps and historiography we created in the 70s and 80s and the way we marginalised them in the eyes of somalis.

khalid power is not to shape the mind of your supporters but to expand your audience and control their perception.

Khalid marexaan does what no other somali clan can do, we will kill you, marginalise you take your land yet you will root for us, the reason we can get away with it is, at the core we are moral people, if you don't tread on us, we will happily except everybody as a somali
khalid, less the politics of feminist suffering and more the legendary marexaan pragmatism.

like i used to say, marexaan doesnt care about shining buildings or land-cruiser, its al about real-estate, power to shape somalia's next 100 year.
we hate ever
we hate every somali clan equally and respect them equally but cross our line, Qaan marexaan wa qaxo kugu maqan.

I like the isaaq personally and my favorite snet members are the isaaq (if we dont engage in tribal talk)
