Very small scale.......every high school in the land should have a tree nursery and one day a week the students should be out planting trees.
We need at least a million trees planted per year per province to make a difference to desertification. :)

You have brilliant idea, walee mass deforestation has accelerated on Somali peninsula. We need to plant enough trees to make up for that loss asap.

Plant a tree only to have it consumed by a reer magaal goat next day.

The other problem is none of the trees are native acacia trees. They are some city trees originally from outside the country.

All Trees can be made native Trees, But your right they do need to be studied and selected right. I live in a city that reaches 120F and these fuckers got more Trees growing then all of Southern Somalia combined. Making a desert look like a dam forest

The Tree that is least resistant to heat and does not need 5% water the Palm Tree is not as visible in Somali cities as it should. One clear alert that let's me know our Tress experts don't know wtf they are talking about! :?

By native trees they mean trees that are already growing in Somalia.
They have an advantage over non native trees because they are adapted to the climatic, soil, and environmental conditions.

There is no point planting trees that won't flourish and multiply across the land.
City trees can be ornamental like palm trees etc....but not in the rural areas. :)

None of the trees in SL cities are native. The most wide spread is the baxarasaaf and it came from Australia brought by the British.

Eucalyptus tree that is aka gum tree.

Trees in the city are mainly ornamental......trees in the rural area should be multi use for forage, erosion control and range land remediation. :)
