Re: OLF meeting in western oromia
Isnt olf a dead organisation do they still believe in secession or did they renounce it. Which clans in western oromia are sympathetic to this organisation
Re: OLF meeting in western oromia
they were dead/ or very weak, for a long time, but lately, they have been getting stronger in western oromia, where the maccaa is the dominant clan, there's also the tuulamaa/tulama there, as well.Khalid Ali wrote: Thu Jun 14, 2018 9:29 pm Isnt olf a dead organisation do they still believe in secession or did they renounce it. they have been split between secession and autonomy, to be honest with u. but the ultimate goal is to kick tplf out, and let the oromo alone decide their fate, and the entire world will have no choice, but to accept it, and respect it.

Re: OLF meeting in western oromia
Macca clan .is.related to.borane..when it.comes to.genealogy..tulama but.the tulama are Christians. Orthodox..they wont.support.secession..who is the .leadership of.olf barrentu. I think.secession is.not.feasible maybe larger autonomy..because.amhara.tigray and.gurage wont.allow.oromo to leave.or else Ethiopia wil collapse.because oromo live in the middle
Re: OLF meeting in western oromia
Yes, macca is a son of the borana, and is the largest oromo clan.
tulama is mostly christian, true, and share many things with amhara.
leaders of OLF are mostly from wallaga at the moment, and they support greater democracy and autonomy for the oromos.
i agree secession is not feasible.
we do not care what the habasha won't allow, or whatever, it's all about what oromos want and how to best serve their interests, best.

Re: OLF meeting in western oromia
That's why meles zenawi made wallaga oromos the president of Ethiopia. What percentage of oromo backs olf agenda. Democracy doesn't work in Ethiopia we saw the 2005 elections when.Meles locked up all opposition
Any one who promotes democracy in Ethiopia is dreaming. Autonomy can work but then other ethnic groups want the same it's difficult

Re: OLF meeting in western oromia
yes, the current president of oromia, lemma megersa, former security officer, is from wallaga, where the macca clan is dominant.
western oromo clans played huge roles in history, on both sides, the ethiopian empire side, and the side of the oromo liberation camp.
this is due to it being such a huge clan. it expanded/conquered the most, out of all clans.
most oromo support OLF, as they did in the past, it's just that they have to be present in oromia, you cannot lead the oromo struggle from asmara, germany, minnesota, or where-ever else.
yeah u right, democracy is not gonna happen soon, but autonomy is a must!
look at tplf now, they are openly saying we are going to instigate violence, indirectly, if our old tplf guards like sebhat/samora, are not put back in power.
the next day, sidama vs wolayta fighting broke out, oromo vs geri kombe, and so on, and so on.
tplf is greedy and their greed is so strong, they are willing to try and take the entire country down with them, if they cannot have things their way

Re: OLF meeting in western oromia
Tigray is strong they might be small but they are United their Achillesheal is the smallness of their territory and people. I think they are also out of tricks they had to.make abiye prime minister and make concession because of the mass protests semora yunis seyoem mesfin aboy wolde late meles these cats are all old timers big shots in the tigrian peoples liberation front they cant start a war surely they are plotting.
But they will use politics strategy and resources moneyTo get back allot of influences back to them
Eastern oromo arsi are anti Ethiopia anti habasha where as your clan are a bit indifferent about Ethiopia habasha. Many oromo deeply hate amhara and tigray exploits those ethnic divides how is oromo relation with gurage and sidama I know relations with ileey is very bad

Re: OLF meeting in western oromia
they are strong, but are getting weaker. no army or movement is without its flaws and weaknesses.
tplf's main weakness is lack of support among the masses in ethiopia.
their own creations, the PDO's are turning their backs on them, even america is watching carefully, because they will not tolerate the collapse of ethiopia. they will move in troops, if they have to, to avoid that. that would mean more black refugees in europe, they won't have that.
they are even offering to help pm abiy to investigate the bank accounts of the tplf elites overseas. they will freeze their assets eventually. then it'll really get good/interesting.
the second part is not true. many arsi are proud ethiopians. i got them in my family. bale/arsi=same people, and i got family all over bale.
so u are still stuck in the past, khalid, todays oromos are not the same as yesterdays.
oromos today hate tigrayan elites more than they hate anyone else.
amhara are not the enemy today. gurage muslims are cool with us, i got silte in my fam, actually they dislike being called gurage due to religion, their language is eastern semitic, more related to harari language/amharic, as well.
sidama is like the oromo brother, they are our natural allies. they are with us. we are with them.
they are struggling to get their own state, as well. and why not they are 4 million or more, while harari are less than 20,000 and got a state
