What is Somaliland's strategy for recognition moving forward?

Post by Tycoon5647 »

Koonfur is hell bent on closing every door that is open to Somaliland. I want to know what our strategy is moving forward. What is Somaliland going to look like in the coming decade. Will we be in the same place we are in today?

Well without being a recognised state it's hard to see how it's gonna be better than what it is today.
The govt and people have high hopes that the UAE will come through for Berbera.
However, after the peace between Ethiopia/Eritrea this has been thrown into doubt. :)

We do not know whether Somaliland will get recognition in the next few years or not, we hope it happens, but nothing is certain.

What is certain though is that no matter what happens, in the next 10, 50, 100 years the qurjiile will still be under our boots, that is pretty much guaranteed

Name three countries (real ones), that might some day in the future recognise s/l as a independent sovereign state? :)

Recognition is a means to a goal.

De jure independence is not as important as some make it out to be, de facto control is much more important, (case in point Somalia vs Somaliland). The lack of international recognition has much more to do with shortcomings of Somaliland's foreign policy than anything else, as the legal case is as strong as they come. Somaliland has much larger issues to worry about atm e.g rampant corruption, unemployment, inflation... etc, you do not need recognition to solve that. There is a lot that can be done without de jure recognition, the Berbera deal being a prime example, and we need more of that.

In time, de jure recognition will come, but people's livelihoods must improve. We seek international recognition so our people can live better lives, its a means to a goal.

Yeah yeah.....we've heard all that for years.
Name me three countries who you think would be willing to recognise s/l?

For years iidoor believed Xabasha would instantly recognise them.
After a while they came to realise the xabasha would be the last country to recognise them.
Then there was Kenyan recognition over khaat deals.
The Israeli connection is well known.

Most sensible iidoor now understand the truth.......Somalia is the only country that can grant iidoors independence. :som:

Our current strategy is a whistle and a pray and if that fails send out Faysal as our foreign minister

On one hand they claim Ethiopia is in it to "divide and weaken" their country by encouraging the independence of Somaliland and with the same breath they say Xabasha will be the last country to recognise Somaliland (i.e. last country to violate their "territorial integrity"), truly the mind of a doofaar is a fascinating thing :)

Qurjiile, get it through your head, you will always be my slave. Wishing for Somaliland to not get independence will not change your fate one iota. Your destiny is to always be subservient to Isaaq. Your children and grandchildren will be calaacaling about Isaaq on future iterations of Somalinet. Hell, even if we make up with the Hawiye in Mogadishu you would still be ruled from Hargeisa

You are an insignificant backwater, Idoor are out there playing high stakes geopolitical games to put their country on the map, and here you are wishing anyone gave a shit about you.. from Puntland (of all places), to the IC, to this meek government in Mogadishu, you begged them for attention and they did not give a shit.
