Change the Capital!

Post by guhad122 »

As many of you may be aware, some of our Jidwaaq cousins are complaining about the OG dominance of the politics, businesses, and the overall populace of Jigjiga. Back in early 1990s, ONLF overwhelmingly won the elections in the region, and voted Godey to be the capital city of Ogadenia. It was after the ONLF left that Meles decided to move the capital to Jigjiga to punish the OGs. The current flag of the state was the one chosen by ONLF during those elections. Now that the ONLF designed flag is in place, do you think it is about time to respect the vote of the people and bring the capital to Godey. I used to think the “Unukaa leh” thought and idea was exclusive to Caliyaale and Ceel Baraf communities.

Jigjiga is the eternal capital. Godey is not fit for a capital; too far, too under developed, only one tribe lives there, isolated from all main business centers.

Besides too far from the Federal Government.

Guhaad, it is not only Jidwaaq but there's Al-itihad groups that surround Cagjar who can't see eye to eye to ONLF, and trying to undermine them. One thing i am sure is majority of the people in the region are behind ONLF, and come may this election things would be more interesting.

What do you mean eternal? According to the Ethiopian constitution, the local regional states have the right to name their own capital city. In terms of distance, Godey is actually more strategically located than Jigjiga which is too close to the wild Oromos and their incapable leadership. With abundant of water, and other natural resources, Godey is way more suited to carry that title, not to mention it is in the heart of Ogadenia like Qabridahar and closer to the other main regions such as Doollo, Afdheer, Qoraxeey and son. We built Jigjiga in less than 7 years, and we can do better for Godey.
Zidane,
ONLF will take the helms of the region very soon. This is just the cooling period where the Liyuu forces and ONLF soldiers need to be integrated into a single force. Also, you don't want to have any power struggles in this transitional period. Elections will be held in less than two years, and whoever ONLF nominates will win.

Guhaad, we all know that ONLF has the biggest support in the region, but, there's big but, will the Ethiopian government allow fair and free election?
The resenment of Jidwaaq seems to have a backing, maybe in the government.
We have seen the same drama back in 1994 where ONLF were popular and soon made public enemy number one by EPRDF...this same EPRDF with different leadership who has land-grab ambitions. There'll hard obstacles on the way but we shall wait and see.

Waar isku xishod waa waxas ba la timi? Unka leh?

Allah Ogaden caqli xuma abgaal wax ma dhaaman .

You have to respect your dir brothers and make them feel this theirs too.

You don’t even respect other clans like jidwaaq iyo absame who suppose to be your closest ppl.

Oromo can change who’s in charge anytime. I hope cagjir is treating his other Somali brothers fairly.
