Afweyne was the virus that caused this sickness and destruction of the former Somali state.

- Usurping the legitimate government through a coup.

- Institutionalising and weaponising qabiil for the first time in Somali history. The idiot wanted to ensure his survival by arming neighbouring clans against each other.

-Afweyne also legitimised corruption based on qabiil and opened the state's coffers for his insignificant bon marehan clan, authorising embezzlement and misappropriation on a level never before seen by Somalis (Booli Qaran).

- Rushing the state into an ill-thought and ill-planned war with Ethiopia, losing the largest military partner and unable to secure a new source of funding and military aid was a complete disaster, and it was all self-inflicted.

- Failing to manage the country, the Somali Republic was a piss-poor state and performed terribly on every economic metric there is.

The list goes on, but all fingers point to Afweyne.

Well it’s a complex question. There’s two answers because it’s so complex. What destroyed Somalia as a brotherly nation was afweyne and his Darood virus who for the first time in modern Somali history weaponized qabiilism. They destroyed the nations backbone and fabric

The reason why somalia is a unstable circus show for 27 years now is because the blessed Isaaq destroyed Afweyne and daroods. We destroyed the SNA and various darood militias. We also brought Aideed back into the country armed him and gave him captured Hawiye soldiers and sent him down south to finish the mission which was ultimately the removal of Afweyne and chase daroods to Dadaab refugee camp in kenya which he did thus Dadaab became the most populated darood city ever, if you can even call a refugee camp a city but you know what I mean. The darood virus still lingers Hawiye foolishly reconciled with dofar ismail as a whole. They should have instead banished Boon Ilkoyar and cagdheer back to Ethiopia. They should have forced the dirty Punans into isolation in the barren desert known as Punanland. Only daroods that should be allowed to live in Mogadishu are the yaryars like Dhulbahante and warsangeli who are both poor domestically and in the diaspora meaning they are not a threat.

What caused the destruction doesn't matter anymore, why the country can't move on like everyone else on the planet is a better question.

Coup d'etats and civil wars happened to almost every African country, and much of them were a lot more bloodier than ours, with a lot more on the line (different language/ethnicity/religion), for us it's reer vs reer or hebel vs hebel.

It must be the external factors that is preventing us from moving on.

May be this is the way it supposed to end for the Somalis. or may be Somalis are not meant to ever have a unified government again. when you look the current situation of Somalis The Ergo poem by Mohamed Hashi Dhamac Gaariye comes to mind. The poem was written in 1992 and it went on to make predictions about what future would hold for Somalis if they don’t heed to his advice at the time. Only Allah knows the unknown, but the poem creates an image of 2019 Somalia
