I’ve seen some sub clans with the name but have no idea what it means or it’s significance

The word "Fiqi" in the Somali culture there is this proverb "Fiqi tolki kama janno tago" thus Fiqi means religious cleric (knowledgeable in religion's affairs) and the proverb means that no matter how religious a Somali person is still he will go to hell with his tribe or clansmen for tribalism is far dearer to a Somali heart than his religion......when it comes to Arabic it means " one who learned the islamic teachings.... " man ta Faqaha fi diin fahuwa FAQIH" ..........

Fiqi is somalized version of the Arab word "Faqeeh" and Jannoman already explained that correctly but I would like to also add to that , Fiqi , Ah-kaam or Islamic jurisprudence was by far the most important knowledge in Somali academic circles of the past centuries .One could earn the respected title of "Fiqi" after mastering the Shafi school of jurisprudence.

The name Faqeeh is written in different versions with slight vowel variation depending on the name that follows it .For Instance
