Ethiopia has always been a western bitch and will always be. The problem for Ethiopian expansionism is basically two fold. Internally, it is surrounded by warring tribes that really want to devour each other the minute foreign donations dry out. The second problem, the West is in decline where China and Muslims are on the rise and are increasingly and strategically connected by global business interest. The silk road states are raising ( from the former Muslim Soviet states, to Pakistan,to Turkey to Gulf states, to East Africa will be interlinked by a global trade and common religious and historical experience. The far right hatred in Europe and America is just another manifestation of Western decline and which will worsen in the coming decades.

Ethiopia will be better served by being a good neighbor, but this point can only be brought home when the foreign donations and anti terror cash dry up. How long you think US will subsidize shit-hole countries when their own country is 25 trillion in debt. Europe is in the same boat. Most of the European countries are in debt heavily.

Other factors that will discourage Ethiopian expansionism:

Millions of foreign born Somalis, educated, smart and wealthy will be invested in Somalia's national security and national interest. This is why it is critical that Somalia's development should have been started from the ground up. Each region should learn how to govern themselves and cooperate with the rest of the nation.
