Turkey is very heavily invested in Somalia in many fields. As well as developing Somali skills, it's also giving Somalis opportunities to invest in Turkey. Many Somalis have now bought homes in Turkey.

Turkey has also began exporting arms and has became an exporter. It will build several arms factories in Somalia.

Fantastic news as Somalia slowly rises from the ashes. Somalia needs to lobby, US, UK, Qatar and Turkey to lift the arms embargo so eventually Turkey can set up arms factories here, which can later easily be exported to other parts of Africa as Turkey becomes a major arms exporter.

US can be won easily with a base and UK can be given few similar deals. They all have major interests in the region especially as Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya all become gas and oil exporters.

At the moment only the gulf of Oman is bigger oil route due to Iran, Iraq, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait, all massive exporters.

The training takes Minimum 2-3 years and not all of the first patches are trained for direct combatants but to become leaders, trainers and logistical and support experts.

Once you build the chain of command and systems and operations in place then you going to have more and more soldiers on the ground.

Don't underestimate the pull of qabil, corruption and incompetence on Somali troops.

Al shavab would be quickly flushed and destroyed from there hiding places.
