Muscat Securities Market-listed Raysut Cement has revealed plans to establish a cement grinding unit in Berbera, Somaliland, in partnership with MSG Group, worth $40m (OMR15.4m).

In a bourse missive undersigned by plant manager, Konstantinos Kouklidis, Raysut Cement said it would own 55% of the unit, which will have an annual capacity of 907,185 tonnes (t).

The remaining 45% will be held by MSG Group.

The company will pay tax to the state and our youths will get jobs. Plus company will pay for the raw materials needed which will be sourced locally. We are free market capitalists that's our culture. We need to stay as far away as possible from the hanti wadaag mental illness.

That is too humble , you are telling me you sold a natural resource fully , for ( avoidable) taxes and few jobs??? and how much did the government sold these resources for and where did that money go ?

Not a positive development. The company is gonna import foreign employees (probably Indians), and any taxes would be pocketed by the usual corrupt officials. MajorIgaare stated SL is "free market capitalists that's our culture", so the profits would naturally go to the company and its partners. Nothing to brag about a project that wouldn't benefit the public & the jobless (at 80%), and possible degradation of the environment due to the company not adhering to standard & strict procedures as required in emerging and developed countries.

As we have seen in other socalled foreign investments sl regional govt is in no position to refuse.
The calculation has been made that any investment is a good thing and it's hard to argue against this logic.

Any investment that is employing people in our country is a good investment. Dahabshiil wanted to invest 6 years ago and the people refused , we wasted 6 years if any one tries to refuse this time , we will arrest all of them and put them behind bars. Berbera have only 3.5 more years to grow faster. During those years muuse biixi Will karbaash any one against development .

This is good investment for Somaliland as we currently buy ethiopian cement and this plant will have added benfitted for export to other markets in the region.

Berbera is currently going through renaissance as its coming back to its good times.

DP PORT ✔
Military base ✔
Warshada daqiiqda ✔
Warshada sibiidka ✔
Berbera corridor 1✔
Airport renovations ✔
Mutiple new hotel ✔

There's was also a belgium or dutch company interested in a dry dock to repair ships going through the Indian ocean.

Dp port established a free zone for businesses.

Berbera is booming town and it still has plenty of other opportunity like fishing , food producation , and raw materials like wood and metal plants for construction.

Somaliland hasto open a chamber of commerce office there to facility this transactions.

If you have a problem with the cement company then you can put your cash on the table and create another one right next to it and do it the way you want too. If the government wont collect taxes due to corruption than even if the government owned it the proceeds would be stolen anyways. That's just a strawman argument. The hantiwadaag mindset is the milk and butter for unproductive people. The stone used to make the cement is owned by the state and is sold at a set rate. You can buy the stone from the state if you want aswell. If you have a problem with foreign workers you rally your local mps to pass into law a work permit system where only people that have skills we don't have can work. This will force companies to open trade schools locally so they can source the workers locally.

This is the problem when geeljires comes into cities. Foreign workers from third world countries sweating for their living a stoned in the street. Are we terrorists?

We need investment like the dry Dock and ship repairment couple that with trade schools and our youths won't be dying in the sea.
