Leasing Zeila or any other part of coastal SL to the Russians would give them unprecedented leverage. They could easily deploy A2/AD and block entry to Red Sea (Suez) just like during the Cold War when they had military bases in both Berbera and Aden.

In what sense? Give us an explanation based on logic because your wishes and the wishes of your Walaweyn/Faqash masters are not facts.paperino wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2019 9:24 pmInfantile suggestion.Xildiiid wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2019 5:24 pm Leasing Zeila or any other part of coastal SL to the Russians would give them unprecedented leverage. With modern A2/AD systems the Russians only need a single spot in SL coast in order to block access to the Red Sea and the Suez. It would give them unprecedented leverage and it would be a nightmare for NATO.
Somaliland is one of the most strategic places on this planet unlike the sewer also known as Zoomalia.

Sadly Russia will not be setting up a base in Somaliland, it does not need one. The power that needs it desperately already has Djibouti i.e China.
This is not because it upsets paperinos darood sensibilities and dreams, but because Russias strategic focus is on the 1000 mile radius where they have supremacy.
