Any updates on Hobyo port?

This is ludicrous why build port in Garacad when you can invest in Hobyo which can accommodate imports and exports nationwide.

Murusade helped them get port investment a month ago their elders MJ were in Dayniile begging them to invest in new port, the question is what has murusade been given in return?

Maybe Mudug will be returned to Galmudug state Allahuca'lam we will soon see ;)

I could be wrong but my guess is Garacad is being built to kill the Hobyo project. There is no love lost between Somalis in that region.

Hobyo is dead in the water, first mover advantage will see Garacad seal the fate of the Mudug region. :stylin:

Each state having port is good but one state or subclan having two ports will kill the other one. If cumar mx gets it's own port who will buy from boosaaso? Maybe its market will be limited to Nugaal.
Hobyo will have a regional and large clan-based market reaches north of jowhar and baydhabo so don't compare the two of them.

You should check out a map saaxib. None of those cities would ever need to use Hobyo when Mogadishu is a lot closer and roads are being built to connect them to Mogadishu. Hobyo will serve Galgaduud and parts of Mudug for the most part if ever built. It will definitely have to compete with the Garacad port if ever built as well.

Hobyo to Baydhabo: 390 miles
Hobyo to Jowhar: 290 miles
Hobyo to Balaweyne: 250 miles

Mogadishu to Beledweyne: 190 miles
Mogadishu to Baydhabo: 140 miles
Mogadishu to Jowhar: 90 miles

economically baydhabo and hiiraan do business with the central, north somalia and ethiopoa. It's not about who is closer to you its but who you can exchange goods with. Jowhar and afgooye supply Xamar therefore they dont need hiiraan and baydhabo so we exchange business with those in our north and jowhar and afgooye can't compete us in this area. On the other hand we need to import outside goods on our way back to home.

If you travel from xamar to baladweyn it will take two days but for GLK just one day due to having better roads and local admins so it's not about a distance and now bc of the safety hirshabelle road will be started from matabaan to baladweyne there is also Galmudug road from GLK to matabaan. All these will be funded by the donors.

Soon they gonna constract roads from hobyo to the highway and caabudwaaq so basically hobyo will cover all the way to shilaabo, mustaxiil, tiyeeglow and baladweyne. Baydhabo trade through tiyeeglow for Ethiopia and via to the north baladweyne.

Sahal well said,

and also what really amazes me is that these mjs puntland honestly believe that Garacad will serve South Somalia as if Galmudug will allow it, the only thing HG Galmudug will do is just close of the Galmudug Border between Puntland and force all Trucks and Business to use Hobyo port, so unless Puntland is gonna have flying Trucks to use Garacad while avoiding Galmudug border, i just dont see any other ways that Garacad port will be feasible.

Image

As you see the map above, Galmudug will just close the border from Puntland and force all Galmudug market and Southern States to use its Hobyo Port and anyone who defies that will be banned to operate in Galmudug, and also to be honest Galmudug Market alone is enough for Hobyo Port to be successful.
