I have always been bemused by a segment of the Somali population who pursue tribal objectives using a facade of Somali nationalism.
Like any other Somali group, the MX want power. But no group hides behind the cover of fake pseudo nationalism to advance clan centric interest in Somalia like they do.
Similar to the Xabashi in Ethiopia, the Kikuyu in Kenya, the MX display a level of fanaticism towards nationalism and deeply believe they are the “chosen ones” to lead Somalia.
Since the fall of the Somali state, the MX have had 3 prime ministers and one president. No clan has been in the halls of power in modern Somalia as much as the MX.
Trolls all over social media have now made it a ritual to extoll the virtues of mama Ethiopia. Overnight twitter warriors are displaying the
Next to their names. Cushites, they say, are determine to rule the horn and Farmaajo will help make it happen.
Suffering from a delusion of grandeur, tribal anarchist intoxicated with new found nationalism are on a crusade to bring back the “glory” of Somalias yester years on the back of Ethiopian tanks.
