The sheekhaal of Somaliland

Dear somalilanders please contribute what ever you Know about sheekhaal roots in somaliland. This is what I know , sheikh axmed loo bogay , sheikkh cumar qudub and their uncle sheikh maxamed sharaf are all burried in sheikh district . These are saints for the local peaple , Somaliland still have small sheekhaal community all over the country.

don't rely too much on these so called oral historians , what we know for sure that their father ( of Qudub and Abaadir , Garweyne..etc) had no brother migrating with him.

during my university, one of my best friends was a skhekhakh guy,

he always was proud of his religious family and was somekind of sheekh himself ,

his family owned a famous old school in hargeysa ,

not to sure about the exact name but , i guess it was abdiraxman sheekh barawa school.

i dont know why his family bare the name of barawa although he used to go to somali region to visit his family, maybe they are connected with the skheekhal in south

In the North they are known as Sheekhaash in the south Sheekhaal.

Hargeysa-dan waxa Weyn kula ahi gabigeeduba Shalay bay ahayd, xataa ma mudna in la yidhaa daraad let alone doraad tii ka horeysay. When my grandfather,a Jibril Abokor by clan, came to Hargeysa as a child from Berbera in 1930s with his reer Axmed abtiyaal, Hargeisa was not even a Tuulo, it was just a miyi settlement.
About Sheekh Barawe family, they were and still known as Sheekhaash, reer aw Qutub family.
