As in 1868; Ethiopia is once again in the hands of the fearless, brave, bold, Oromos!

After the death of the Abyssinian Emperor Tewodros, who died whilst being surrounded by Oromo warriors on all sides with no escape; said this:

''The destinies of Abyssinia are for the present in the hands of the Oromos. If England is to have any more dealings with Abyssinia, they will be the other ''party,'' those fierce Mohammedan tribes who have long occupied the fairest provinces intervening between Northern Abyssinia and Shoa, and who have made of Enarea and Kaffa, Oromo republics and kingdoms. A long time ago when Mr. Plowden first went on his strange and fatal mission to Abyssinia, he found it hard to understand and disentangle the records of the dismembered royalty of Ethiopia; and since then the barbarous, romantic episode of the conquests, the rule, the wild enthusiastic visions, the despair, and the death of King Tewodros/Theodore, has been added to the bewildering history.
The utter extinction in Abyssinia of the Christian faith is to be looked for, as a not distant result of the present ''innings'' of the Oromos; but it would need a fanatic to feel regret for the substitution of El-Islam, considering the utter degradation into which Christianity has fallen in those parts, and the hopeless failure of missionary efforts. The Oromos-of whom Mr. Plowden told us, in his official correspondence, laid before Parliament in August, 1866, that their man are brave and honest, and their women are beautiful, in all which particulars they present a contrast to the late king's (Tewodros) turbulent subjects; so strong a contrast, that one wonders a man of his character did not go over to his own enemies-are dividied into numerous tribes, of which the WOLLO OROMOS are the fiercest and most restless.
Among them are to be found the traditional fine horses and noble horsemanship which were among our few former associations with Abyssinia-taking rank with Bruce's living beefsteak, but pleasanter.

All the Oromo country produces good horses, and all the Oromos ride well; but the Wollo horses and men bear away the palm; the former being wonderfully active, sure-footed, fearless, excellent on un-even ground, handsome, and spirited; and the latter splendid riders, with perfect mastery over their horses, and great fondness for them.
The name given to each horse has a meaning, and great men and warriors are generally better known by the names of their horses than their own.
In the country of the Wollo oromos, the men frequently address each other as ''father of such a horse.''
If one of them is so poor as not to possess a horse, he takes the name of one as his war cry.''

you still playing by the rules said by TPLF, I like abiye but he is no reformer nor revolutionary, he is a manager of vaulty system.

I told you long time ago without reform of EPRDF and security sector, abiye is another Hailemariam Desalegn waiting for the scheming habasha and their lackies.

the qeero revolution needs to institutionalised and its mark should be clear on the ethiopian state just like TPLF did
4/5 of the ehiopian states landmass are somalis and oromo.

oromos lack confidence and will to power, change the flag like mengistu and melez...i doubt abiye has the gut, a small symbol ,nevertheless, even a oromo nationalist like yourself dont have it in you, let alone structural reform of the ethiopian state.

southern nations and nationalities should be incorperated into oromia and sidamo should be federal state(oromo sister state)

create a electorial map based on population and creat electoral district and codefied it and even if abiye is gone oromos have a system that they organised behind and protect it just like amharas want salassi and minilik power structure back.

waachis my brother, so far it has been a political theater, majority of abiye goverment are former meles people like shide.

this whole abiye thing is superficial appeasement of oromo nationalist to dim the qeerro revolutioary spirit.

only eritrea benifited from the qeero revolution

EPRDF are eying 2020 as to relegitimace their rule in ethiopia and my god what better PR then abiye ahmed and oromo now all the crooks are whitewashed

am sorry bro abiye is your obama, he there to serf the system, he is raised by the system and he only uses your symbolism and hope to manage it and eventually exhaust it, am I wrong, maybe, but i doubt it

Law, security reform and opening the media is in oromo intrested, the more amhara and tigray spew their hate the more abiye can unite the oromo as to get his reform package in place, freedom, liberlaism and democracy the kryptonite of the habasha miniority

Yep great analysis it makes no sense the the 4 million tigray where more sure of themselves than the 50 million oromo.

I think the amhara are the real power to be reckoned with. Oromo to can't be ignored the biggest show down of power will be between amhara and oromo. And I think this time oromo will have the means to fight back hard against the Ethiopian establishment

Abiy is a good leader

Abiy and farmaajo will transform east african politics.
Oromo are the leaders of Eithopia. They will overcome the amhara and tigray, somalis and oromo share the same enemies and only together can we rise up and rule east africa.

Abbiy Should let Ethiopia become 3 Countries, The Amhara-Tigre Abyssinia, The Oromo, Afar, Sidama & others Republic, & the Somali region should be independent.

1) You are showing some inner oromo hatred and some ignorance too kind sir.
First of all, federalism and eprdf are nothing without odp adp and the southern party sir.
Tplf could not have ruled for a day forget 27 years... Had it not been for alliances it built throughout Ethiopia ..

2) do you expect abiy to change an empire to a country in just over a year? That's like expecting to rebuild somalia in a day even though its been at war more or less since 91.
Or like expecting a fat man to lose all his excess weight in a day.
As they say Rome wasn't built in a day.
But abiy so far has removed a LOT of tplf members from the army and government, arrested some, put oromo and even amara muslims in high ranking general positions...and more... All in just a year...
The top 2 generals are berhanu jula an oromo and adam mohammed an amara Muslim...
The security is being reformed but once again sir..
U cannot change a 27 year old system over night. It takes time like any other great task does.
You cannot get rid of an entire government if You don't have a new one to replace it with.
Did you know that the eprdf kept some former mengistu regime members to run government for the first few years? It happens. Then they got fired and replaced. Same happening now. Abiy just arrested some tplf allied officials from afar state too. It's happening.
3) oromo have entirely different culture and mindset. We do not have the desire, or will to become another tplf dictatorship. Our main goals Oromia being developed and protected, while Ethiopia too is our goal and maintaining alliances with federalists like somalis, afar, sidama, and others.
Btw Just look at how a million tigrayans live in oromia still and noones harmed them.
And if we were not confident we would not have been able to chase away the tplf or keep the amara extremists in check kind sir. You're mistaking the desire to be an oppressor or tyrant, with being confident.

Abiys main goals are economic(tplf robbed the country blind before escaping back to tigray), to avoid the economy collapsing.

We are already building alliances with the southern brothers and sisters. There's like 7 or more of them wanting their own state from gurage to sidama. This benefits us because oromia will loom large to its smaller neighbors and have good relations with them, especially in regards to keeping amara extremists in check.
But annexing them outright would be wrong.
And not just. I do agree that it's a good idea though.
Sidama referendum is happening soon too. Just a few more months i believe. That's another 4 to 5 million allies of oromos.
Everything else will happen in due time. Just watch. Abiy did more in 1 year than tplf did in its first 10 years. Just wait and see.

Amara are powerful but the old power balance has changed. In the past, wars and alliances were more province based than ethnic.. Example in the past it waa wollo oromo and wollo amara fighting shoan amara and oromo. Now its ethnic based. Oromo are back and more united than ever. No oromo will lead the amara armies again... That means no one.... No one in the horn can mess with Oromo. No one can exploit or oppress them.

Waachis,

My brother what do you think of Farmaajo?
