Having the likes of Salaad Cali Jeele and Omar Finish on their side is actually not a good look for N&N.
Lol trolling aside I agree. That said, name me one politician in Somalia who’s not in bed with crooks one way or another. Or wouldn’t have a problem with it if it achieves their ends?
I don't agree. I can't speak on Filish, but Salaad Cali Jeele is a wadani of the first order. He also always strikes me as qof saafi ah. Also, I have had family members left in Mogadishu in the 90's bring him up long ago in discussions about their experiences.
One of my cousins (she was the only child begotten to an Abgaal woman by an uncle of mine) was left in Mogadishu because her mother refused to leave. Long before Farmaajo gov, she was telling me about her experiences in Mog and about how Darods that were left in Mog all sought protection from their reer abti. If they didn't have reer abti or protection, one of the well known protectors was Salaad Cali Jeele. In fact his Harti Abgaal/Agoonyar group (Sheekh Shariif is also from them) came to be considered more as the protectors of minorities in Mogadishu because of him. And later we saw the Agoonyar led by Sheekh Shariif be the first Abgaal subclan to embrace the Islamic Courts and fight warlords.
This guy used to protect the enemy at the worst possible time.
I have generally had a profund respect for the guy ever since. This was back in 2010 she was telling me.
Salaad Cali Jeele's detractors are the original people who forced him to leave his humble/ xer lifestyle when they attacked his xer settlement. I am talking about Habar Gidir in the Abgaal-Habar Gidir wars. This is why he carries a grudge which LET'S BE HONEST all Abgaal did which caused them to support Abdullahi Yusuf and Ethiopians in Mogadishu.
You also have to recognize at that time Saleebaan had the Port of Mogadishu, Sacad had Villa Somalia, Cayr had Bakaaraha.
All of thr government arsenal fell into Caydiid's hands and that civil war infrastructure was still in effect where Saleebaan who can't hold a village today had the Port of Mogadishu!
I am not agreeing with anything that happened, but I am trying to contextualize why Gheedi, Salaas Cali Jeele and really all of Abgaal supported Abdullahi Yusuf/Ethiopians. They wanted to break up that infrastructure.
Beyond that Salaad Cali Jeele never once went on a tribal duulaan. He didn't go to Gedo when USC did, he didn't go to Bay, he didn't go to Kismaayo, he didn't go toBeled-Weyne, he didn't go to Gaalkaacyo.
The guy was literally compelled to arm himself after Caydiid and Habar Gidir attacked his humble Xer settlement in the Abgaal countryside.
So no I don't agree with lazy generalizations. Gaal dil gartiisana sii. Salaad Cali is a man who has my respect and it has nothing to do with his current politics
