Most likely from 1870s-1884 During the ottoman/Egyptian rule. Before that the Somali territory was claimed by the ottomans and they ruled the coastal areas thru locals under ottoman Suzerainty. In the 1860’s The Egyptians under ottoman control expanded their borders toward Sudan & the read sea and landed a garrison by 1870, they left during the Anglo/Egyptian war with the Mahdist in 1884.
