Iran's Ahmadinejad wants Israel moved to Europe
1 hour, 24 minutes ago
TEHRAN (AFP) -
Iran's hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad triggered a new international outcry by saying the "tumour" of the state of
Israel should be relocated to Europe.
His outspoken remarks were greeted with outrage from Germany, Israel and the United States, at the forefront of an international campaign to prevent the Islamic regime from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Ahmadinejad, who in October said arch-enemy Israel "must be wiped off the map", said that if Germany and Austria felt believed Jews were massacred during World War II, a state of Israel should be established on their soil.
"You believe the Jews were oppressed, why should the Palestinian Muslims have to pay the price?" he asked in an interview with Iranian state television's Arabic-language satellite channel, Al-Alam.
"You oppressed them, so give a part of Europe to the Zionist regime so they can establish any government they want. We would support it," he said, according to a transcript of his original Farsi-language comments given to AFP.
"So, Germany and Austria, come and give one, two or any number of your provinces to the Zionist regime so they can create a country there... and the problem will be solved at its root," he said.
"Why do they insist on imposing themselves on other powers and creating a tumour so there is always tension and conflict?"
Ahmadinejad, a straight-talking former commando who swept to the presidency after a shock election win in June, is no stranger to controversy.
"Unfortunately this is not the first time that the Iranian leader has expressed outrageous and racist views towards Jews and Israel," said Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Mark Regev.
"I hope that these outrageous remarks will be a wake-up call to people who have any illusions about the nature of the regime in Iran."
Israel's views were echoed by the United States, its closest ally.
"It just further underscores our concerns about the regime in Iran. And it's all the more reason why it's so important that the regime not have the ability to develop nuclear weapons," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the EU's nuclear diplomacy is "not made easier by the fact that Mr Ahmadinejad comes up with new ideas, that the people of Israel could move to Germany and Austria, to resolve the Middle East problem."
In his interview, Ahmadinejad also referred to the Holocaust as a matter of belief, and raised the issue of revisionist historians -- who attempt to establish that figures on the number of Jews killed by the Nazis are wildly exaggerated -- being prosecuted in Europe.
"Is it not true that European countries insist that they committed a Jewish genocide? They say that Hitler burned millions of Jews in furnaces... and exiled them," he said.
"Then because the Jews have been oppressed during the Second World War, therefore they (the Europeans) have to support the occupying regime of Qods (Jerusalem). We do not accept this."
The Holocaust was Nazi Germany's systematic slaughter of an estimated six million Jews between 1933 and 1945.
Official Iranian media frequently carry sympathetic interviews with Holocaust revisionists, and the regime itself also refuses to recognise Israel.
Ahmadinejad also proposed "a referendum in Palestine for all the original Palestinians" to decide on the future of what is now Israel, the
Gaza Strip and
West Bank.
But he said "the best solution is resistance so that the enemies of the Palestinians accept the reality and the right of the Palestinian people to have land."
He was speaking in the Muslim holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia where he was attending a summit of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference.
After calling for Israel to be "wiped off the map" in October, Iran was chastised by the UN Security Council and drew fierce condemnation from the West -- already alarmed over Iran's nuclear ambitions and ballistic missile programme.
A scheduled visit to Iran by UN Secretary General
Kofi Annan was also called off as a result of the remark.
Ahmadinejad's tone has also been a major departure from his pro-reform predecessor
Mohammad Khatami, who had eased anti-Western rhetoric and sought to bring Iran out of international isolation by calling for a "dialogue among civilisations."

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is definitely better than his predecessor Mohammad Khatami. But, what I am curious about is, are there liberal/moderate Muslims who have ever denied the Holocaust? I mean, "Freedom of Speech" made it possible that Salman Rushdie write "The Satanic Verses", but, is there a Salman Rushdie who can write a book with a title similar to "The Lies of the Holocaust"? I doubt it.

What percentage of the Iranian population do you think agrees with him or thinks like him?
Whenever the western media does an interview or a piece on Iran, they always choose dissidents, women who want to take off their hijab, or "oppressed" journalists. I would really like to know how the average Iranian feels about all of this.

LionHeart-112, the average Iranian identifies with Ahmadinejad, because they share the same background. Have you observed Ahmadinejad's behavior, manner of walking, manner of dressing and etc? Does he strikes you as an elite? The average Iranian is conservative, anti-corruption, anti night/strip and other notorious clubs, pro family & moral values, anti prostitution, anti alcohol consumption, pro decency, fairness, justice, etc. So, yeah, the majority of Iranians identify with and support their president. Of course, there are always the sellouts in every Muslim society, but they represent a small minority.

Actually, the Iranians in Iran are very much in support of Ahmadinejad and agree with his view, after all he would not have been elected as president and also one must keep in mind that Iran’s Islamic theological political organization would not exist today if the majority of Iranians didn't support it. However, there are many Iranians in the west who are in my books traitors; they denounce their faith and culture (some even go as far as saying that they are "Aryan"). But, I believe that those are few and far between. The other day I was actually reading an article on women in Islam and they were saying that the misinterpretation on women’s rights, particularly in the Middle East is due to the interpretation of the Qur'an and the Hadith by males. However, recently Iran has seen a women’s movement who are devoted to giving a women's perspective on Islam, the government has been giving scholarships which support women’s education in political Islam try to incourage women to take part in the interpretation of the hadith and the Qur'an, the way men have done for centuries.

They ARE aryans. This is what their forebears, Daruis, wrote:
I am Dariush, the great king, the king of kings
The king of many countries and many peoples
The king of this expansive land,
The son of Wishtaspa of Achaemenid,
Persian, the son of a Persian,
'Aryan', from the Aryan race
-From the Darius the Great's Inscription in Naqshe-e-Rostam
Iran is another way of saying Aryan. The word aryan has been hijacked by white supremacist but it original meant was to describe Iranians.
The iranian diaspora community is heavily influenced by former Palhavi dynasty supporters who want to return the Shah's son back to the throne but it would be misleading to characterise all of them as traitors. Even those that want the Shah's son to rule Iran, aren't traitors by definitions. If any1 is traitor is the ayatollahs who promised to replace the Shah's regime with democracy where EVERY1 can participate.

Hence, the IRAN-ARYAN, right lol.
Please, there is no difference between America's two party political system and the one party political organization of Iran, many people can participate and run for office, even such a person like this modest man, ahmadene can become a president, i mean how much of a "democratis" do you need, political participation is not limited to the rich in iran.

Yep, Iran is derived from Aryan. The first historical recorded reference to Aryan ppl or race is by the Iranians (by that I mean persians -- this is very important ,iran today is only 51% persian). Therefore, they ARE THE aryan ppl/race. The rest are rip offs.
There is NO political freedom in Iran. I did 20, 000+ word assignment 2 years on Iranian politics in Mid-Easter history course.
The guardian counsel which is made up of 12 members screens ALL candidates, which parties run for elections, which get barred...they basically decide all that moves in Iran's political landscape. Then there is the supreme leader. ALL unelected and unanswerable to ANY1. You don't like them, tough luck...you're stuck with them for life.
It is a travesty born out lack knowledge or pure dishonesty to compare american democratic political trias system of executive, judicial, legislative branchs with separation of powers and responsibilities to the Theoracy in Iran.

First of all, I thank the head of Muttawaciin Guardian by Sharing this article with us.
Well, President Ahmed is a good leader indeed. But, I somehow don’t like when he criticizes Israeli’s without being a diplomatic. I mean if you are Seef-labood, you will disappear as Taliban. As of today, our enemies (Muslim enemies) are everywhere even those so called Muslim leaders hate to see another strong and self-sufficient Muslim country which is as strong as Westerns.

Wise-man,
I think Diplomacy has died the day the bush administration declared an illegal war in Iraq.
