As you know Saddam, there is Reer Hassan history that makes it the single most consequential sub-clan AS A SUB-CLAN than any other Somali sub-clan, forget just within Marehan.ReturnOfMariixmaan wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 12:45 pmI would love it. When I found out, I made sure to disclose it to you before anything or even before I finished understanding it because it was that fascinating.
Honestly, it just cemented the already puzzled question in my head about why Marehan history is SO PROMINENT outside of Somalia but not taught at all in Somalia. I just don't get it wallahi and my own father's lack of awareness on this has cemented that puzzle.
By that I mean even my dad was not aware of what I showed you and he first mentioned everything I have ever found out about Marehan minus some details.
For example, Amir Nur. I literally do not remember when I first heard Amir Nur was Marehan. From grandmother on down, Amir Nur was Marehan is something that was said as much as Siad Barre was Marehan. Yet, the majority of older Somalis I have ever come into contact where Amir Nur was mentioned for the most part didn't even know what Amir Nur was.
When I was a kid, my grandmother had a best friend; islan Habar Gidir/Cayr ah. I have never seen more passive aggressive human beings than my grandmother and her friend when they were talking politics/history. I remember once getting some tea for the old hags () and they were having another passive aggressive "tit foe tat" abour qabiil equities. Each one was saying hebel baa naga dhashay and here I am setting these cups down and my grams is like "combine all of Hawiye together and they can't compare to just the weight of Amiir Nur" to which islaanti Cayr responds "oo Nuurkana xoow ahaa" and my grams starts cackling like rooster only to say mid breath not even bothering to explain "and you want to compare yourself to Marehan." I mean even that she bad to explain was a sign to my grandma of the fact sheer folly of comparing to Marehan.

So when my own dad did not know what I showed you Saddam, it was disturbing to see just how much of Marehan history is missing when it is arguably the most consequential of any Somali clan.
I wanted to present that topic and then Danab-Gedo-Janan thing happened and I thought things that used to be our boasts have to be displayed in a different context now so I have kept the information pending.![]()
