some levees have been built in the heart of ftood-hit areas by gudiga ganacsatada so that if the river floods, the water will not be able to breach the wall and cause damage.

now they wanna build diversion dam that diverts some of the flow at hilikalyo 7km north of the town and redirects it to the river behind the town at gumbarlaawe(behind xaafada buundoweyn west of the river) so im guessing this diversion channel would be built on the west of the river from Hilikalyo and goes behind siigalow of howlawadaag and buundawayn to avoid any future damage.

Floods and other environmental elements are permanent realities in Somalia, so as much should be invested in levees or other constructions that prevent or divert the floods. Unfortunately, the locals lack the expertise & can at best be counted on half-jobs that last a year or few years. So, a foreign company (Turkish, Chinese, etc) should be tasked with the construction(s).

The quality of constructions by the locals is subpar, and it's due to corruption. When a large chunk of the funds are pocketed, the result is constructions that are built without basic standards & materials, constructions that are sure to fail basic testings & benchmarks, constructions that would at best last few years. So, it's unlikely the fatahaads, erosions, etc are gonna stop in the foreseeable future.
