MOGADISHU (HOL) - HirShabelle State Agriculture Minister Abdikadir Abuukar Karani was Monday evening shot dead in Jowhar.
Sources in the town have said the minister who is also an MP in the local government was gunned down by unidentified men as he left a mosque in the area.
Karani was recently appointed minister in a mini reshuffle by state president Abdi Ware. The circumstances surrounding the killing of the local government official remains unknown.
The attackers are reported to have fled the scene. The killing of the minister comes barely a day after Federal Education Minister Godah Barre survived a car bomb attack in Beled-Hawo.

AUN. Waare made a big mistake in appointing a miskiin looma-oyaan without personal guards. If the minister was a laandheere, it wouldn't have been easy to eliminate him. I wonder about the criminal elements who kill someone just coming out from masjid; don't they worry about aakhiro?

Hirshabelle is under the jurisdiction of Ethiopian, Burundi, and Djibouti AMISOM I believe and the roads from one city to another are pretty much locked down by Shabaab. This sort of attack on this guy would have been difficult to repulse since even the state president of Hirshabelle is prone to attacks by armed insurgents.

I guess this is one of the signs of judgement day. Widespread killing where those killing people won't know what they are killing for and those being hunted/killed won't know why they are getting killed or harmed.

Life is cheap there, people need to be taught that life is valuable.
