DPWORLD Berbera port will be truly a 21st century port of international standard connecting the horn with the world. It will be extended more i believe to accompany more container as the port growns africa is going in the consumers market way as more people have more money and more middle class people have spending power and companies like Amazon establish base in africa among others, also helping is the continent having the youngest population. If you still don't believe africa will be the next best thing then truly just look at how far china came from 1980s to 2000s just under 2 decade china went from "can I to will I" faster than usain bolt winning in the 2008 Olympics. But going back to berbera it has great future with backing from DP world as parent company and connecting to the busiest port in the world jebel ali in dubai it will surly secure not only Somaliland economic success but might add its long waited Independence it like that motto, you waited for the bus all day than two arrive at once, Somaliland two's are the economically and independence success Berbera port bought to its people and Goverment :sland:

I doubt it......DP world will be extracting their pound of flesh.
The best way forward would been to make Berbera a free port and invite Somali businessmen from all over East Africa to set up shop.

Dp World already double berbera imports without the port extension been built and once the 400m quarry is built you looking at 150% increase. Berbera will no doubt compete with djibouti port and with Dpworld been kick out they will show them we have berbera now and will persuade Ethiopia to import n export through Berbera.

Berbera is booming place and also with Somaliland population booming with diaspora return and Ethiopia djibouti and Yemeni came there in drones it will no doubt be economic spring happening in all over Somaliland.

Maydh port construction will start aswell soon insha allah.

So Somaliland is upwards and onwards for better achievement.

I was watching this days old video:

I'm disappointed that DP did a mediocre job in the port of Berbera. The port looks empty, chaotic, disorganized with some parts resembling junkyard. It doesn't even look half finished.

How can they do a mediocre job when its not even finished lol. You have wait for the roads to be tarmac and the port is finished mate. They will be a handover ceremony then and only can you judge the outcome.

Well, if it took years the job to reach its current state, it would take many more years (probably a decade) to finish it. Judging by the quality of the job DP has done, a few $billions more would be needed to bring the port to acceptable, standard and operational levels. The port would also require up to 10 $billions more to make it competitive with regional ports (like Djibouti) that are already way ahead, and even then success isn't guaranteed.

Dpworld will invest as the demand grows.also the airport is finished brand new airport which will facilitate the port by reexporting as shipments past throught gulf of aden.

Somaliland will have abundance of opportunities as the freezone opens companies from Ethiopia, south sudan, Uganda will set up shop for import and export through Berbera Dpworld port. We need a dry dock port as well to repair and refuel ships as they go past our shores. Somaliland maritime actively will be busy and operating day n night. Also there's the other port abu dhabi built which will also be operational i would like to see livestock exported from there.

There's cloud hanging over the sovereignty or independence of SL; no country is gonna risk doing business with a region that's legally part of Somalia. Until SL sorts out the issue, the future of the port of Berbera is dubious.

UAE's projects in WG are being done as a spoiler, not as a genuine partner. It has already abandoned the military airport project. It has several other projects like a base in Eritrea. The common denominator of those projects; emotional based, not practical or rational. No wonder Somalia's FG has lately kept quiet about those projects, 'cause it has figured out it's going nowhere other than bankrupting the UAE. The UAE is gonna drag its feet on WG's projects, spend less, continue doing a mediocre job, and ultimately abandon it. With regard to the UK, it does limited humanitarian missions/projects in WG, not business. As for Singapore, there's zero business with it:
The Somaliland government has in the past entered into agreements with shady or non-existence companies. Singapore New Silk Somaliland Energy CO LTD was one of those companies that the Somaliland government announced a major deal to build an oil refinery in Berbera and employ 400 National Service graduates. More than a year after the announcement, there is no activity on the supposed refinery.

Trafigura is a Singaporean oil transportation company which serves Ethiopian oil 60% of their oil need has just signed a agreement which will take over Berbera oil terminals. British company genel oil has invested in odweyn blocks and has spend millions in SL.

There's so many international companies like coca cola and Hyundai which has invested in Somaliland. More companies to follow.

And abu Abu Dhabi has finished the new airport in Berbera which will be one of the best airport in africa which will enhance the planned construction of the multi-million Berbera Economic Free Zone.

Trafigura is another tarnished oil company found* guilty by international courts in so many counts of shady deals including trade in toxic waste dumping. One has to wonder why Muuse Biixi does business with such criminal companies. Coca Cola manufactures drinks that cause obesity and cancer; no point in mentioning it. Also, daqiiq manufacturing isn't worth mentioning. It's only worth mentioning companies that manufacture healthy food & drinks, also is environmentally friendly. What's the timeline for finishing the Berbera Economic Free Zone? Any recent pictures?

BP shell total all have been guilty aswell so to you we shouldn't do business with them like Somalia is. Sxb just say you are hypocrite ans move on.

I rather have coca cola have a factory in SL then importing that from another country at least Somalilanders are been employed.

The Freezone will commence once the port is finished and will properly extended to berbera airport which is about 8 to 10 km from the port.

Unlike Trafigura, BP hasn't been convicted of dumping toxic waste, among other terrible violations. It's a known fact that Trafigura takes advantage of weak or unrecognized countries where there's little or no rule of laws. Despite Muuse Biixi knowing that, he went ahead with the deal, 'cause no reputable companies like BP, Shell, etc would do business with him due to the cloud hanging over WG's sovereignty or independence.
Again, Coca Cola and its products isn't nothing to brag about. It should in fact be banned, whether manufacturing or importing. The Berbera Freezone hasn't yet commenced? Just as I expected; bold announcements similar to the Singapore New Silk company that went nowhere.
