Geopolitics I don't understand

I am very confused why Farmaajo administration is very tight with Eritrea. I was thinking maybe because Abiye and Farmaajo friendship prompted Farmaajo to follow suit with establishing close ties with Afwerki. But Eritrea has given a base to UAE whilst having ties at the same time. So why should Farmaajo admin get close with a country that has close ties with UAE. This geopolitic thought has given me confusion. It is just that Farmaajo has visited that country alot. Also this admin had the most diplomatic incidents and moments for example,
UAE cash nabbed at the airport, or Khat flight ban, neutrality with Gulf Alliance etc. Any thoughts?

It's similar to the alliance between Erdogan and Putin. The two do not agree on many things, most times support opposing forces, etc--yet do business and trade with each other, at times cooperate on deescalating between the forces each supports, etc. Geopolitics is about using your brains for common interests and setting aside egos--not using your emotions to cut ties, starting conflicts, undermining a possible ally with whom you can share common interests/goals, etc. In your case, does a UAE base in Eritrea threaten Somalia? If not or if it's minimal, what could Farmaajo gain from cutting ties with Afeworki?
