The opposition have the right to protest peacefully albeit the opposition don't bring into the street heavily armed militia that do not take order from the Federal Government. Both sides need to maintain the rule of law.
Government should accept the protest. Let the opposition take it to the street peacefully. If the government want to bring out their supporters into the street the next day or whatever, they should. Farmaajo's administration has one of the worst PR team ever. Farmaajo's public-relations team should see to it that no ban should be placed on the opposition's call for peaceful protest.

I agree with you. Last friday was a PR malfunction. BUT, you have to take into consideration what also happened last friday. Word in the social media and streets had it that the protesters had heavily armed paramilitary militia with them. These paramilitary militia were not under government control. Furthermore, the protesters and the paramilitary militia were heading towards Villa Somalia.AbkoowDhiblaawe wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:28 pmAgree 100%.WadaniggaBarakaysan wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:19 pm Personally, I think Farmaajo is making a mistake for banning any protest in olMogadishu. It wasn't long ago when dowladda had a pro gov demonstration in daljirka where that gaaljecel mp said he was in buurta uxud.
Last Friday was a big blow to Dowladda. It was the best gift served to mucaaradka. Because if dowladda actually allowed the protests opposition leader would say Farmaajo is a wannabe dictator etc. But government instead used brute force and proved opposition's points by action. It was all over Jazeera, BBC,Reuters etc gov shooting at kheire n Co. You guys celebrated I was laughing waayo big shabaq aa ku dhacdeen the world will watch what's happening on Friday.

Mucaaradka brought their own military because they don't trust dowladda. I understand them, let's be honest dowladda would not accept protests even if mucaaradka didn't have military with them. People protesting in Fagax n Sii Sii headed to daljirka got shot at by police and was forced to return back to their houses, same thing in marina intersection.WadaniggaBarakaysan wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:34 pmI agree with you. The opposition have repeatedly said that they do not recognize Farmaajo as a legitimate president. Now they were walking towards Villa Somalia with heavy paramilitary militia. If you put 2 and 2 together, you get 4. Last friday appeared to me that it was a coup-in-the-process.
What do you think?

Last friday both the government and the opposition failed. Both have really bad PR teams. That's a fact.AbkoowDhiblaawe wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:44 pmMucaaradka brought their own military because they don't trust dowladda. Isn't a protest with a large gathering an opportunity for AS to strike as many? Hence the need for the opposition to have 'heavily armed militia' for their protection. Somalia, security-wise, isn't in a state to have normal protests. Compounding is Covid19, at a time when the South African variant is spreading, it isn't common sense to call for a large gathering of people, most of whom do not have a mask for protection. The exodus has more to do with the South African variant than the political situation.WadaniggaBarakaysan wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:19 pm Personally, I think Farmaajo is making a mistake for banning any protest in Mogadishu. Give me a break. It's okay for the government to have protests but as soon as mucaaradka wants to do one there is a covid19 pandemic.paperino wrote: Thu Feb 25, 2021 7:34 amIsn't a protest with a large gathering an opportunity for AS to strike as a ?
