DELEGITIMIZING ANY USE OF FORCE/MILITIAS/PARAMILITARY OUTSIDE OF THE STATE INFRASTRUCTURE.
Indhacade and his shenanigans the night before February 18 was a blessing to the dawlad. 1. His actions have really tarnished the position of the the Madasha, which is why they got no sympathy from the IC and the general public. The IC and most Somalis will choose Farmaajo over those calling for anarchy. The Madasha had to cut ties with him, and this is the result of his actions.
So is this a win for Farmaajo? Yes, it is but it is also a win for the institution of the government. The Madasha by providing their own security, which was really fully armed militias that often outnumbered actual protestors were making a statement about the government and its forces. That they were not to be trusted, and that we still have not moved away from the anarchy of the past. However, by accepting that the government are the only legitimate forces to protect the rights of protestors, essentially they have accepted that they were wrong, and the government is a legitimate entity.
This also works in Farmaajo's favor because it takes away from Puntland's objections which were related to protests and government security forces. If Madasha who are behind the protestors accept the security forces, then what right does puntland have to say replace the senior officials?
