DEVELOPING: Kenya told Turkey "for mediation, we are prepared to throw Madoobe out, meet Farmajo 100% on Jubbaland"

Post by Voltage »

We have come to the point Kenya has given up all attempts in thr failure to stop the Court Case and/or push Farmaajo out of the way.

Kenya's message is such a game changer, Turkey took being approached seriously this time and its Foreign Minister heads to the region to clarify with Uhuru himself followed by presenting it to Farmaajo with Turkey being guarantee of its veracity.

I do not know if Farmajo will even consider it, but this is the message Kenya has delivered to the Turks and Turks head to the region to clarify.

If Farmajo accepts that for mediation, I would 100% support. The Court Case is not suspended for mediation and it will takr care of a 10 year problem. Wallahi I would say accept mediation and close the other sink faucet from the spoilers like you did with Ethiopia.

Maybe that's why the Mucaarad have shockingly stood down.🤔

There shouldn't be mediation when the #ICJ is starting to deliberate the case and eventually release a verdict. It would be a dumb decision and actually a dangerous one for the Somali government to accept any mediation when Kenyans have exhausted all options in order to delay the court date or coerce the FGS to accept mediation.

I am completely in agreement; but if Farmaajo ends up accepting mediation, I have listed why I would support it.

Truthfully, I am not 100% sure of my position although as of now it is completely against any change in the status quo; no mediation.

I disagree with you. Choose your battles wisely. Mediation is good. ICJ's decisions isn't a guarantee for Somalia to receive a win. But, if Kenya wants to mediate, I think Farmaajo's administration shouldn't accept the mediation WITHOUT putting forward some conditions and also without postponing the ICJ's deliberations. There should be very serious and heavy conditions for Kenya to accept.

The public backlash would ruin Farmaajo’s re-election. It’s political suicide. None starter

I kind of lean towards your position. Although I am extremely skeptical of European Beesha 6aad, trust Turkey more, I think once and for all this needs to stay at ICJ. Whatever happens at that point Even if the judgement is bad, I don’t think the Government will be blamed.

I don't think there is a single pro-Farmaajo person who would support it right now, but remains to be seen what if anything actually happens.

This is very difficult decision but President should not buckle and stay firm until March 15 which is very close.

Mediation or out of court settlement would imply rewarding Kenya with at least 25% of the offshore.

The Kenyans know Somali politics inside out.
They're basically offering what Madobe has at present, a region and city under siege by Al Shabab.

Farmaajo would love to accept this offer......but is fearful of its repercussions.

A few years ago most Somali politicians would gladly accept foreign help to settle local rivalries.....so maybe this a sign Somalia is slowly coming back.

I agreed with you. Some of the people here are assuming Kenya wants a mediation in a good faith; they aren't. They know their case is null, and their wish of grabbing Somalia's maritime coast is based on bogus claims. In the #ICJ, existing rules and prior ruling are the precedent, and Kenya is guaranteed to lose. This is why they were pushing the Farmaajo-led govt around. Besides, the US offered mediation in the past, and Farmaajo refused. There is no reason why he would follow Turkey's mediation at this stage. We should take our luck with #ICJ.

Gerigoor,

Exactly. Say the biased West who always favors Kenya over Somalia, rules in Kenya’s favor, I don’t think anyone will blame the Government. You did what you can, Qadar Allah

Also as much as I love our partnership with Turkey, they have interests in both Somalia, and Kenya. It’s foolish to think they would throw all their wait besides Somalia
