Rumor that Kenya Plans to Take Somali Wealth in Nairobi
I'm hearing this news now, apparently kenya wants to freeze bank accounts for somali businessmen and take their land and houses. Especially for beesha marehan, they will be karbaashed. Then next will be beesha hawiye, then beesha harti and ogaden. There are big businessmen in the hit list, even mp mahad salad's brother is in the list. His efforts weren't enough to save his brother. Degoodia, murule, garre and tolomoge ogaden will not be targeted apparently they are kenyans. From ogaden the biggest target is this reer isaaq guy.

I welcome it! Its about time Somalis invest in their homeland and stop investing in our enemy Kenya. They literally take the majority of tax from Eastleigh yet failed to build an adequate sewage system for them. It goes straight into the pockets of Kikiyu and Westlands.
Majority of ill gotten gains from corrupt politicians like Madoobe and Cali Geedi have their properties there. Atleast the abgaal dude who stole 30 million (30 jir (30 milloon) invested in his homeland and built Elite hotel in Lido. I respect that guy.

Yes, they should karbaash them hard. Every tuug who steals goes to invest in kenya, let them take that xaram money. Hawiye are smart though, many took most of their wealth to Turkey when they realized relations could get worse and they will be affected. The biggest target for mx is this soonfure guy from ceelwaaq who didn't help the poor people there who had abaar.grandpakhalif wrote: Thu Mar 18, 2021 2:09 pm I welcome it! Re: Rumor that Kenya Plans to Take Somali Wealth in Nairobi
This is bad news if indeed true but Kenya benefits from the entrepreneurial nature of Somali people. They might end up targeting few people close to the current government but even that could back fire. It’s lose lose situation for both sides if such a move materializes.
Re: Rumor that Kenya Plans to Take Somali Wealth in Nairobi
It's a logical move by Kenya. Those who are smart would already have relocated their businesses to Somalia, or their wealth to Turkey or other friendly countries.
Re: Rumor that Kenya Plans to Take Somali Wealth in Nairobi
It is not a logical move and I take that with a pinch of salt.
1.Kenya is not Somalia; it is not even like UAE. Kenya is a constitutional democracy with very robust institutional separation of powers legally. Kenya may be a corrupt country with a lot of behind the scenes problems in Government (Executive and Parliament), but Kenya's LEGAL SYSTEM and THE FREE PRESS are two of the most independent in Africa. Particularly after the revision of the Constitution following the Kenyan Election violence a while back, the independence of these institutions have been strengthened by LEGAL clarity.
2. As such, seizing property and wealth is not facilitated by Presidential or even Parliamentary Edict. It has to be done by COURT ORDER. Not only is this as a collective punishment which is an international crime, but even if it were brought to court on individual basis---it would still be VERY, VERY , VERY unlikely considering what it says about investor and business confidence in Kenya and International trade----if Government can just seize assets for political reasons.
3. Finally, in terms of bank accounts and liquid assets----SOMALI USE CITIBANK according to my experience or other international banks along with the fact their financial system of use between each other(Xawilaad) all have their accounts located in Dubai. Ironically it is precisely because of the lack of development of Kenya's financial system and lack of confidence in accounts legally under Kenya authority that caused Somalis to do risk control to begin with. Even if somehow Kenyan legal system fails and such an illegal order were to pass court, I highly doubt Citibank or the international financial system would cooperate given the existential risk that such a political punishment presents to all non-Native business investors every in the world.

No disrespect but do mareexan have any big businesses/businessmen in Kenya? If Kenya wants to get back at mareexan all it has to do is shut down dadaab and other refugee camps and expel those refugees
Re: Rumor that Kenya Plans to Take Somali Wealth in Nairobi
I honestly think any Marehan kid at Dadaab is luckier than you are. They get access to schooling provided by UNDP better than any part of Somalia including Somaliland.mahoka wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:41 amSbashi wrote: Thu Mar 18, 2021 1:21 pm I'm hearing this news now, apparently kenya wants to freeze bank accounts for somali businessmen and take their land and houses. Also, going by the ridiculous lack of creativity and predictable dullness you display, I would wager refugees, knowing their drive and motivation, are probably more likely to be better educated than you are even in the West and therefore more likely to be a success at life.
