I predict an afar uprise in jabuut I spoke to my cousin in jabuuti today. The afars are rioting burning shops belonging to ciise. But I some how think geele will use the army to put down afar rebellion. Interesting time we are witnessing

Afars are a clear minority in jabuuti. They don't own alllot in jabuuti. They are in one xafaad in jabuuti city. But they live mostly in the country side western part. In the 1990s there was a frud uprise which was afar
It was put down by the late abtidoon president. I think they will throw some stones. A bit but they can't change the real power which is somali ciise in jabuuti. This is not Ethiopia. That said they can make it a bit difficult some how but in the end they will lose.

Fair enough I agree. Ciise will always rule Djibouti.Khalid Ali wrote: Sun Aug 01, 2021 7:56 pm Afars are a clear minority in jabuuti. They don't own alllot in jabuuti. Djibouti is different from Ethiopia because the government has a military defense agreement with France and when the Afar resorted to rebellion in the mid-90s the government asked France for military assistance but France said that the agreement was not concerned with internal affairs only an external threat from neighbouring countries and this is what prevents Eritrea from Attacking Djibouti because France will respond mightily. France logistically supported the government and helped her with military plans and increasing the number of the army three times. Djibouti regained the areas controlled by the Afar and immediately after the defeat of the Afar, France mediated between the two parties in France and they reached power sharing agreement and AFar political party that is now part of the ruling coalition. For example, Parliament is half Somali and half Afar although the Afar are more than Issa in the number of mps because the latter shares it' half with Gadabursi and isaaq same goes for the cabinet.
Also Djibouti has the largest American base in Africa and is located on Bab al-Mandeb which is important for the movement of trade. There is an Arab and Western policy to support it so that it does not become a hotbed for pirates and they pay billions of dollars to secure the Somali coast and lastly Saudi supports it to counterweight with Iran in Yemen. the only Change can come from within Issa.

France supported Djibouti logistically against Eritrea bc the area "was disputed" if the war spread futher to Djibouti France would have intervened militarily.

It is not the 90's anymore where america reigned supreme, now any rebel group can get funding and weapons from countries like iran, russia, UAE and Turkey.
UAE are still bitter about Djibouti cancelling the port deal and we all know how dirty the Emiratis operate. Russia probably wants to control the gulf of aden and Iran also wants a piece of that, imagine controlling both the gulf of aden and the strait of homuz.
Ismael omar gulleh has been doing proxy war in somalia for the last 15 years i think it has now hit his own country.

Right moment IOG regime to be replaced. If I was Farmaajo I would plant my own puppet in Djibouti without any blood being spilled.
Re: Djaboutawi give us an update on whats happening
Stop making Farmajo something he is not, he is nothing in the Horn of Africa and heading the way out soon
Re: Djaboutawi give us an update on whats happening
IOG is playing it safe and staying neutral in the Sitti conflict. Importing ethnic violence by taking sides would be a risky game to play in the long run. Siad Barre gov’t did something similar in the Hawd with the WSLF, and we know how that ended.
Najeb Abdale Kamil will likely be the successor to IOG. If he comes to power, Issa-Afar relations will normalize again.
