UK says it will not recognize Somaliland

This must be difficult for the secessionists. 30 years of saying we are the queens black orphans and you get a slap in the face like this? My advice would be to drop the secessionist nonsense and fully join your brothers in Somalia. I can see PL and SL forming a strong northern alliance in the future just like in the 60’s. PL and SL have a lot in common as the only two peaceful and democratic regions in Somalia.

nothing 2 c here. England has bin hostile towards Somaliland citizens 4 a long time. they bombed Isak m Dolbahanta in WW1. they exiled England's loyal pet, the Wasakghali Sultan, after he help 'em drive Derwish forces. in violation of treaties with Somaliland tribes, England gave Hawd n Reserve 2 Haile Selassie

if any citizen of the ex italian colony opposes secessionism, tell me how Puntland is not a stealth secessionist enclave

Puntland got a seperate foreign policy from tha rest of the ex italian colony, they blocked tha discharge of federal duties by a federal minister of the ex italian colony, they deport other citizens of the ex italian colony, they have their own central bank that prints currency as if Puntland was a sovereign country

SL will never reunite with failed state Somalia again. Eventually the world will recognise this reality even if it takes 100 years

The UK should revoke the WG borders it carved during the colonial times. It should only make valid the borders that apply to the areas it controlled after Italy lost Somalia during WW2.

There's no need to do anything further at this point. Somalia should stop holding any talks with Somaliland, focus 100% on securing the South. When they see the country prospering and stable they will come back willingly.

These Walawayns think that Somaliland is foreign project like the paper government in Xamar, UK had nothing to do with Somaliland reclaiming it's independence in 1991, it's a decision made by the people like the decision they made 1960 with the union.

The different between the paper government in Xamar and Somaliland is if the paper government was under the same conditions Somaliland is under, it would not last a week.

UK and other western nations will never be the first ones to recognize new African nations. They will have countries like Kenya, Malawai etc. who can't say no to their former colonial masters or countries run by dictators to do it for them and will just follow suit afterwards.

"neighbouring countries to take the lead" "

"neighbours in the region to take a crucial role in recognizing any new settlement"

Its name, borders, granting independence, etc is thanks to the UK. You got that right.

somalia is a colonial name. italian word. if ur ex italian colony can use an italian suffix, then the former british protectorate can use the english suffix

u can say italy granted independence to the ex italian colony. n the ex italian colony recognizes it's colonial border with Kenya, which is occupying Jubaland. u got that right. niggas is down with colonial namer colonial borders :troll: but this whole thread is childish.

of course england bin hostile 2 somaliland. since 1960 n b4. at least italy became less hostile to somalia after 1960

the goal of this thread wants to avoid discussing real tangible issues that r relevant in tha present. issues like Puntland is currently lobbying foreign governments to extend AMISOM trusteeship

strait from the stealth secessionists' unofficial twitter account

If this was true, your people wouldn’t be all over the world and in social media begging foreigners to recognize Somaliland.

I agree the paper government in Mogadishu is useless. I see it as a transitional government. However, at some point Somaliland will need to engage with Puntland and a credible Somali government. Secession is out of the question because Sool and Sanaag are part of Puntland, but I can see a strong federalist Somalia where both Somaliland and Puntland can continue to be autonomous.

No. The UK through UN trusteeship granted it. From the time Italy lost Somalia to 1950, UK ruled the entire Somali peninsula. Even bidirectional traffic was left-side during that time. Your grasp of basic history is poor.

i'ma ignore that unnecessary outburst. otha than that i don't think u disagreed with me at all. tha BMA handed u back to Itlay. tha ex italian colony didn't become independent until Italy left July 1, 1961. n ur nation was given tha italian word Somalia. instead of calling y'allselves tha English word Somaliland u got tha italian word, Somalia

hope ur not saying independence was attained when Italy handed u back 2 Italy. Italian administered UN trusteeship is colonialism. matter of fact the ex italian colony is dealing with modern version of UN trusteeship. administered, in part by, 1 of the biggest hater of Somalis. Uhuru in Jubaland

now enuf with tha semantics. tha real issue 2day is Puntland requesting an extension of AMISOM trusteeship. Puntland working wit foreign enemies of the ex italian colony's sovereignty. Puntland trynna cripple SNA. Puntland banning SNA training ops in Garowe. Puntland fearmongering about SNA obtaining military drones n other military equipment
