American departments of state n defense at odds over Somaliland recognition

Post by TarTar »

tha American consensus used to be to isolate Somaliland. until somaliland rescinds tha divorce wit somalia. now tha DoD be sayin' Somaliland is a valuable ally against China. tha new American defense budget instructs tha Pentagon to find ways to cooperate with Somaliland. State department got dat old mindset dat America need to avoid dealing with somaliland witout permission from Hamar

things are changing though. we could see the ex italian colony get a competent central government dat can negotiate final status referendum. we could also see the ex italian colony remain witout an effective central government, but tha State Department decide to directly deal with Somaliland

Not only the Pentagon wants to engage in Somaliland; the intelligence community also wants to as well ...
The State Department, however, is not interested in Defense Department and intelligence community concerns. Since the Obama administration, Foggy Bottom’s policy has been to ignore Somaliland in order to force it back into its unhappy union with Somalia. Three former assistant secretaries of state for African Affairs now admit that policy is wrong.

still think tha best way outta this logjam is for the ex italian colony having a competent central government. get 'em to agree to final status referendum overseen by IC. n eventually both somaliland n somalia can be close allies. somalilland can help somalia stamp out terrorism n stealth secessionism. but somalia nigga like being Amisom's b***es. they would ratha let kenya get paid to occupy n claim somalia territory than accept somaliland defacto independence so dat somaliland help protect somalia from both al shabab n kenyan influence

how else can we explain good niggas like ustad sahal saying he is cool with puntland's defacto stealth secession but he is against somaliland i'tiraf n he wants to use Amisom against Farmajo :mindblown: niggas like playin lose-lose-lose games. a win-win scenario don't compute

 i ain't letting somaliland's esablishment of tha hook neither. if e'rybody in east africa got someone working for 'em of the ex italian colony, who won't somaliland do tha same? aaly wit some of these factions fighting over the ex italian colony, heck run underground political influence operation with tha masked Isak delegates pretending to be Dir in the ex italian colony
