My Hawiye 2nd-cousin in Mogadishu "All hope/spirit killed last night, send me tahrib (illegal migration) money."

Anybody who has relatives in Mogadishu will confirm---whatever spirit that was hanging on has died in Mogadishu after the siege of Villa Rays.

For the entrance to Villa Somalia to be attacked and with impunity, for the President to be whisked off to sleep in Xalane and then in the morning without care or concern or even thinly disguised interest to shamelessly go waltz to an "invest in Somalia" advertisement WHILE "Villa Somalia" was still besieged----something died especially in Mogadishu's people if it was barely hanging on.

I have a young second cousin who was orphaned in the early 2000's. His late father and mother are both Habar Gidir/Saleebaan, but his father was a first cousin of my mother.

His father was the only child of a marriage before my great-aunt remarried again to our own clan and had a brood. Because he was the only "Hawiye" half-sibling of those sets of my mom's cousins, my mom always looked out for him and stayed close to him so he wouldn't feel left out.

Well he had a son from a marriage before he died followed by his widow remarrying and having her own set of brood. So his son, now a nephew of my mom was taken on as a special charge and the monthly stipend my mom sent in his name fed his larger family (his mother and stepfather and half-siblings).

Well the kid since he is our cousin and because of my mother's dardaaran (directive) also became a special charge of us. He would even hustle us 1 by 1 without us knowing and sometimes in a month could get 4-5 stipends per month.

His schooling was paid, he got a Bajaaj for income when he asked for it, and even recently we put together and bought him a car.

He has been attending university the last two years and doing "dhaweeye" (Uber in Hargeisa, I forgot what they call it in Mogadishu) as side income.

He never complained or expressed desire to leave.

Today he calls and tells me he wants "tahriib" (illegal migration to Europe/West) money and to let the family know because after today there is no one walking around with a "spirit/hope."

More than the lives of couple people died in Villa Rays yesterday.

And it wasn't just "terrorists" who did the killing.

Curses be on Hassan Sh Mohamud and the disgrace of "mismanagement" he has imposed on the Somalia that was recovering!

Walahi that’s sad and you should help him escape. At this point HSM might even close Villa Somalia and move to Nairobi. We’re living in scary times.

I don't know what Somalia was recovering during Farmaajo. Wallahi o billahi I am serious. From Zoobe 1 which killed the highest number of shacab over 600 people. Country almost facing a new civil war. I don't know whether you are being serious or if you have maskaxiyan problems.

Atleast now shacabka have hopes about the future.

About Villa Rays being the catalyst for your second cousin to make tahriib is very melodramatic. Cause shacab don't even live in that area just elite and and Dowladda. Heck some even said it’s good that it’s happening in Xeyndaabka dowladda so they can feel the heat as well compared to when ordinary shacab dies in Zoobe.

Calaacal weyn ayaa wadaa Voltage. Everything you see now is a direct effect of Farmaajo not fighting shabab for 5 years. They grew under his tenure. But I wouldn't expect any logic from you.
