These are two of the "official" Italian "administrative" maps put out by the Italian Foreign Minister (Ministero Degli Affari Esteri) with the "stamp" of the Government of Italian Somaliland (Governo Della Somalia Italiana) both in 1912.
They are scientific "on the ground" spatial analysis contracted to the Geographical Society of Italy (Societa Geografico Italiana)---the Italian version of Britain's "Royal Geographical Society."
Both show "Marehan" as the inhabitants of today's "Jamaame" district.
It is like how history has been revised in Gedo to reimagine "Siad Barre brought Marehan to Gedo to disposesses Digil & Mirifle" when there were NO SOMALIS BEYOND THE JUBBA (or almost 90% of Jubbaland) when Marehan removed Oromo/Borana/Wardey from the land bringing it for the first time under "Somali" control in the 1800's!
[That Marehan was also "sole" possessor of the territory between Lugh and Bardere, exactly "Gedo Region" today, in "beyond the Jubba" is also reflected.]
These representations are part of the then Italian administrative demographic project entitled "Official Colonial Study" (Ufficie Studi Coloniali).

Irirism is the biggest perpetuation of "heritage appropriation" when by all accounts they simply followed the conquest of Darod in the "name" of Somali and even accessed a share of the "Darod spoil" taking advantage of shared "Somalinimo"---yet between the rise of "Irirism" in the 1950's until the "Google/Information Age" they tried their utmost to appropriate the "heritage" of the Victors who even entitled their "entitlement to the land beyond the Jubba" through the brotherhood of "Somalinimo"---once again, the same "Somalinimo" they then turned around to try to "disinherit" Darod from inorder to "disappropriate" them from the ownership of the original "spoil" brought by their Conquest!
