The Yuusuf, kaalay
This is what Lt C.J.Cruttenden wrote about Ogaden, Caravans in Berbera. 1848
The kafilas from the banks of the " Webbe " Shebeyli, from
the small province of Gananeh to the south of the above river,
and from Ogahden, pass through the country of the Habev
Gerhajis on their way to Berbera. Excepting the slave-
kafila from Abyssinia, these are the most valuable caravans of
the season, bringing ivory from the Galla triVjes of Sidama,
south of the Webbe Gananeh, ostrich feathers, myrrh, and
frankincense. They frequently exceed 2000 camels in number,
and are well guarded by the men of Ogahden, who may always
be recognised amidst the crowd at Berbera, by the red colour
of their robes, produced, as they all declare, by the fine red dust
peculiar to their country

I don't really understand what kind of validation you are looking for. It says the cagdheer were the second most important customers of Berbera after Abyssinians. Iiddoorku, waxba ma iibin jirin ee dilaalay buu ka ahaa. Siiba. Niman uu ku sheegay, Ayal Yunis.
Berberana, Magaalo ma ahayn ee intaa Baddu furan tahay ayay camirnaan jirtay.
Garxajis oo idiinku Laandheeraysana waaba Anagan sii dhex marayna ee uu Geeliisa dhaqanayo, sida Anaga.
Adiga, Reerkiinuna waabad ugu liidateen Iiddoorka oo xitaa Geel ma aydaan lahayn ee Adhiilayaal baad ahaydeen.
Anagu, Geel jirenimada waan ku faanaa, waana wax wanaagsan laakiin qofkii, xumaayee, i hoos joogay inuu ii faano, dee ka aqbali maayo.
Dooddiinu waxay ku qotontay inaad, Anagoo Geela dhex joogna, idinku inaad Dhar noo keenteen, Anana aanaan ganacsi aqoonin. Qoraalkanaa, beeninaya, beenta aad isku shubteen.

At that time habaryonis were the rulers of berbera, sharmaarke Salah pasha ruled berbera , and he defenitly gave you the insurance to pass through the habar yoonis without any problem. There is no way you can trade in berbera without isaaq protection. Use your common sense .
Unlike the cagdheer we had both badaw and reer magaal. And our land was smaller before our conquests of daarood land , so when kids grow up they would go to berbera , then cadan. It's still the same. Nothing changed ,

Sharmarke Salah, ruled Zeila on behalf of the Sharif of Mokha and no Ogaden went or knew Zeila. There was nothing to rule in Berbera. No permanet structure and no settlers. There was simply a trading season, from October to April. The Edoor were weak at that time and feared Ogaden. They could not disturb the Ogaden, trading Caravans to Berbera.

Sharmake ruled both berbera and zeilac. He was pretty much in control of the whole somaliland coast and it's trade routes.
In peacetime you where relying on them to trade your commodities. In wartime you were under their mercy. They even pushed you beyond the River shabeelle. The fact that you can pass their territory shows you how effective sharmaarke was to create peaceful atmosphere for trading . It's not because habaryonis feared you .

1. Sharmaarke Saalax was not Habaryoonis Chief
2. He was a Habaryoonis, lone wolf hustler who for however or reason, made personal connections with and gained the trust of the Sharif of Mokha
3. He had no influence, outside Zeila
4. Berbera up to Bulohar was a Habar Awal, nomads area of influence
5. The Edoor were able to defeat us in early 20th century because the English armed them with modern weapons which we did not have at the time

fully bartering his ostrich-feathers and gums with the smooth-
spoken Banian from Porebunder, who, prudently living on
board his ark, and locking up his puggree, which would
infallibly be knocked oif the instant he was seen wearing it,
exhibits but a small portion of his wares at a time, under a
miserable mat-shed on the beach.
By the end of March the fair is nearly at a close, and craft
of all kinds, deeply laden, and sailing generally in parties of
three or four, commence their homeward journey. The Soori
