It is very rare for a Somali clan to get such consistently complex reception like Mareexaan.
Most Somalis have "formed" opinions about each other. Public opinion hardly fluctuates. It stays constant.
But MX are one of very few exceptions where individuals or groups see-saw violently between strongly favorable and unfavorable opinions.
An example on this forum is Kees. Kees has one unchanging, unbending, constant opinion about Darod and particularly parts within it. But within the same day, you will find Kees wildly fluctuating in his opinion towards MX. Sometimes you find it within the same topic!
It is apparent to me Mareexaan has more socio-politico currency than even they imagine and one not built on politics, prowess, or whatever other metrics usually established to judge currency.
This currency is based on "goodwill."
Something about Mareexaan culture has tremendous capital that endears them to Somalis inspite of politics and conflict.
Mareexaan should maybe start to understand why and actually reinforce that appeal. It has a very uniting affect.
Me personally I think it has to do with Mareexaan dispositionally internalizing and espousing "fairness."
Fairness.
Be fair to Darod, be fair to Hawiye. Be fair to Isaaq, be fair to Dir. Be fair to Digil, be fair to Mirifle. Be fair to Madhibaan, Tumaal, Benadiri, Beesha Jareerwayne, be fair to Faradheere, be fair to Maay. Be fair to gibil cad, be fair to gibil madoow. Be fair.
We should strengthen our desire to be fair to Somalis.
