We need to give Somalia a final ultimatum:
Either rule Somaliland within one year or accept defeat and recognise Somaliland's independence

I always said the Hagites are the biggest opponents of secession.
What HSM does right now doesn't have a bearing on the Mou. Whether or not sl gains recognition will be decided by US/UK.
The final calculation will come down to this......Do we want a 3rd Somali state along with Djibouti and Somalia?
I believe the answer will be no. That doesn't mean the Mou will be invalid. The US/ UK will work to ensure Ethiopia gets its sea base, while SL remains nominally a part of Somalia. They will probably throw in some financial goodies to sweeten the deal with sl.
More than likely they will offer SL a non binding referendum on independence.

I think that's what you wish for not reality united arab Emirates wants to recognise Somaliland and so does France nobody likes failed state Somalia ...
However Somalilands recognition is unquestionable
Also no referendum is needed Somaliland has a legal case and qualifies for statehood and keeping Somaliland in a failed union is illegal and breaks international law...

the USA Said if Africa meaning if the African union takes the step to recognize Somaliland that it would that was the bush administration i dont think biden administration would though , How ever we could use the geopolitiacal conflict in the region houthis the red sea conflict into our benefit.
The UK i dont think they would recognize Somaliland if Ethiopia does , because they do not wish to antagonise Somalia and be seen as the bad white guy who divides africa once again , Also Britain wants to appease egypt since egypt was also a british colonony and egypt claims the nile on the treaties of the british in the 19 century ,So it cant anger egypt on behalf of ethiopia and Somaliland interest. But Britain can be a way to get final recogntition if the UK helps set up a mediatioon team to pressure Somalia to sit with Somaliland to have a final settlement on the issue , britian can fascilitate on this issue. a deal their diplomats are good with that along with the USA This they would but i dont think they would outright recognise Somaliland when ethiopia recognise Somaliland , I know the brits very well

What we need to realise is the Western nations have no attachment to sl independence. If they can achieve their objectives in the region without recognising sl, then that is what they will do. It has nothing to do with SL democracy, human rights and international law. These are just western tools to secure their interests.
The UK is the penholder for Somalia/ Somaliland affairs, and they are the most sympathetic towards SL independence. If SL politicians are smart they will pursue a phased approach towards independence. The first step being an agreement with Somalia to hold a referendum on independence.
I can see the UK agreeing to this. If SL continues to assert a unilateral independence tactic, it will run into all sorts of legal difficulties. HSM can be pressured by his western donors to sign off on a referendum.

Somaliland has Already had talks with Somalia it failed...
Somaliland as the parent country that's freed unrecognised Italian Somalia need to either take it to court or continue what their doing now Ethiopia first and the rest will follow...
Somalia the fraud has no legal leg to stand on when it comes to Somaliland so we will never face legal difficulties

Yes exactly OD What Somaliland main objective would be is convincing the europeans to come to Somaliland and Somalias aid in order to find a solution and this can come only through diaologue and the walanweyns will be forced to come to the negotation table stalling wont work . because now the SL goverment has leverage because its at the verge of a break through but it needs to be done with great diplomats , and we need people that know how international affairs wor. And is is true what the west does , they dont concede anything if they dont have to really.

Stop being silly.
The...." We never ratified the union" , hasn't worked up till now......why do you think it'll work in the future?
Your supporting the continuation of a 33 years failed policy. At least try to adapt your political strategy to today's reality.
This just goes to show sl needs competent professional diplomats and foreign policy experts to pursue their objectives.
