Being blessed is better than being smart. This so called Gov had a disastrous foreign policy among them distancing themselves from Turkey. When it became clear Ethiopia was colluding with UAE for the port who Culusow literally begged to be friends with Turkey stepped in. Why do I think the maritime agreement, oil agreement was great? Let’s be 100% honest we do not have 1% of the technical, logistical capacity required to take advantage of marine, or petroleum resources. Turkey does. Even if Turkey shares with us 50/50 it would be a gigantic win for us as we’re currently getting zero!

The Somali coastal resources, even without the extraction of hydrocarbons, can support millions of Somalis.

Tourism, retirement villages, ship building, marine national parks, ocean highway from Ras Kamboni to Loyacadde, international fish markets, fishing, fish farming, seafood processing etc. The potential is immense. We must move towards value added exports only.

If Somalia gets its currency / national banks sorted out, and is able to develop its construction materials industry, we have a huge seaside real estate potential.

I agree to a point.
Ordinary Somalis in Somalia are natural born hustlers and hard workers. The business community is innovative and adventurous. Somali business community thrives and flourishes all over East/Central/ Southern Africa, Middle East, Asia etc. Don't underestimate Somali human resources.

Furthermore, Somalis are the perfect consumers. They aspire to be upwardly mobile. Even the poorest goat herder dreams of making it big one day. They will purchase products that denote status and luxury.
If Somalia ever develops and reaches the ranks of upper middle income countries......the consumer market will be huge.

Obviously, we are cursed by an incompetent and corrupt political class that has barely evolved from gun toting moryaans. However, hope remains eternal. Inshallah we will succeed as a people and nation.
