Today is the elections where we will elect the president in the next 5 years
The President candidates Incumbant president Muse biixi
Main opposition Abdurahman ciiro wadani party
and The welfare justice party ali waraabe

Also we have party organisations elections of a dozen organisatons that do want to become the new party for the next ten years
Lets hope to accept the result support the new president lets home for a smooth transfer of power if the incumbant loses . Inshallah sadaashu kheyr Somaliland .

Muuse gained some unexpected support from the hawd and awdal communities during his campaign. He told his supporters to also support hillac and horseed. There is gentle man agreement between muse , samatar and darawal. Even though saylici deserted to the opposition, muse may still manage to get maxamed case votes through samatar.

In togdheer, there are still a right win HJ kulmiye loyalties there numbers is not small , but they are completely overpowered by Team Cirro HJs .

Overall I think the president will loose but he still have a significant number of huuno supporters. I never underestimate the numbers of those Oromo like sacad muuse and gadabuursi. They breed like rabbits

These elections will undoubtedly be close, but one thing is certain: Bixi's popularity in Somaliland has diminished significantly since the war in Laascanood. However, it has seen a slight uptick with the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). What must be noted this time around is that there are 300,000 additional voters compared to 2017, and they will undoubtedly be the decisive factor in the outcome. The Gadabuursi vote is expected to be split roughly in half, if not more, than in previous elections, due to Muse's decision to distance himself from Seylici (Indha Buur) , including Mohammed Asse, in favour of Ina Saajin, who is Makahil and predominantly resides in the Borama district.

Over the years, Muse has undertaken numerous development projects in Awdal, and although these initiatives have been well-received, it remains to be seen if they will be enough to secure his victory. Moreover, his support for Barwaaqo and Hilaac will certainly resonate with some voters.

That being said, Wadani is gaining significant momentum, with strong backing from the eastern regions. However, I would be cautious in placing too much trust in HJ. They are a wily group—what they say is often not what they do. The real question is: is Xirsi more popular among the HJ than Ina Kahin, Cali Marexaan, or Ina Xashi, for that matter?

I predict that if Bixi wins, it will be by a very narrow margin, and similarly, if Ciiro wins, it will also be by a small margin. I do not foresee a landslide victory for either side, but Ciiro does have a good chance of winning this time. ina biixii He has been tested before in Somaliland, and people do like the appeal of a new face.

However, Togdheer will be a major battleground. Muse still presents himself as a wartime leader who protects the interests of the HJ. Though the war did not go in his favour, it is unlikely that the HJ as a whole will hold this against him. They appreciate his character, even though he has stripped some of them of their wealth, particularly through the housing in Hargeisa, and the ongoing economic struggles. This is something I struggle to understand. The HJ operate differently from other clans—they tend to be more neutral in this fight.

Despite Ciiro's clever strategies to secure HJ votes, it is still possible that in Sanaag, the HJ will lean towards Kulmiye, as the HY in Sanaag will likely support Wadani. It’s important to note that HJ and HY in Sanaag, despite what others may say, do not always get along well. This contrasts with the situation in Burco, where HJ and HY have been relatively more cordial in recent years.

It will certainly be a fascinating election. What ultimately matters is peace and stability. Whoever wins must be graciously congratulated by the loser. Somaliland’s future should be guided by the principle of one person, one vote. Whether it is Ciiro or Bixi who comes out on top, I will work with whoever is elected, as long as they are committed to the well-being of Somaliland and its people.
