Working the System: Caayr, Welfare & Subsidized Housing
Day by day, I see a lot of people working the system and reaping the benefits. A really good friend of mine who came to the States several years ago stops me one evening. We were at the stop lights when I saw this Farax in question was driving a 2006 Lexus SUV (retailing for over 65K). I honked and he indicated to meet him at the Starbucks down the street.
The man had changed since I helped him fill out his green card. He had gotten married and had 5 kids. I asked him how he managed to grow so wealthy especially on a Parking Lot manager's salary & having such a large family. He laughed and told me that in America there is plenty of free money and was shocked to hear that I was still single. He asked me why and I explained that raising a family required a serious amount of money and I had yet to reach that position which allow me to provide for a family a comfortable lifestyle.
He laughed and explained to me that I could do that for slim to nothing. I asked how ? He seemed bewildered and said, "For all that education you got buddy, you missed out on the most important lessons." He bought us both coffees and paid for it. We sat down and he schooled me in Caayr 101. I was amazed how crafty he was and why he was much wealthier than me.
The man didn't have to pay for rent. He was living in a subsidized apartment with his wife and kids. The rent was $100. His kids were getting AFDC foodstamps. The wife got a check to take care of the kids. Every winter, the kids got winter stipends to buy them clothes. The last considerable expense he incurred was marrying his Xalimo.
This set up was the stuff of magic. It beat all the stupid management books I had read over the years. He was using a model that made SUZE ORMAN look like a SPENDING THRIFT.
My friend managed to save his proceeds to invest in businesses back home. He bought several houses and set up a factory. I admired his business acumen and his diversification of his portfolio. He had planned on a contingency plan should things sour and even had a 2nd wife set up in Somalia incase his Xalimo gave him issues.
That 1 hour was the most enlightening 1 hour I have spent. I was amazed at the resourcefulness of some Somalis.
So all my single Somalineters, what do u think ? Would u fall his tried and true playbook to amass financial wealth ? Can GUUR be affordable now ?

It's so easy for people to judge others. I agree people should work and earn a living, but in some instances it's next to impossible. A single mother with 5 kids does not have the ability to go out and earn a living, neither does an elderly man or woman. Their are people with cirumstances, and if I ever came across them I'd not only advise them to drain the system but would help them in finding every cuttable corner there is!

What do u take us for, dumbass? That's a nice story and all but it's all bullshit. What he said can happen but no1 can get rich 'working the system." There are poor people in this coutnry who have been "working" the system for generations and are still poor. There is no way in hell he could afford a Lexus with government welfare. Who are u kidding?
It might have been lease (around $300 a month) but there si no way he owned that lexus. Either he fooled you into thinking it was his car (probably stole it or borrowed from the parking lot where he works) OR you are trying to fool us with this bullshit..
Get a real job negro and leave the system to single mothers and disabled people. What a fu,.cking shame.

HannaH,
Halow yarta,
You are right about single mothers but Abdi Hutu is talking about, either his own personal experience or his Habartaa Gidir cousin, and I totally condemn an able bodied man who is dodging his manly responsibilities of rearing his own kids and resorting to such trivially sick tricks while siphoning money to Mogadishu and establishing himself, he went as far as reserving a wife in case the current HG wife kicks him out, how low can a man go as to living and raising his children with another man's sweat?

^^ True say Hannah.
But Abdiwahab is a Man who is most likely ready willing and able to work. If he needs a little money then he should bust hours at his local starbucks, tim hortons, conutry style, dunkin donuts or wherever the fukk is coffee spot is.
A single mother is cool, Senior citizen is even more qualified for Welfare. But Abdi and his friend are grown men which is extremely

Well, the story is true and it does represent a segment which milk the system . I am in no way condemning or promoting this lifestyle but admiring the resourcefulness of some Somali folk.
Its quite easy to rack up $$$ if u ain't paying rent/mortgage. Say u live in Atlanta and pay $800 for a 1 bedroom. In one year u save 12@$800= $9600. Over 5 years it is $48,000 without factoring in inflation/market increases.
Education never determines success in life. It merely increases the odds of it. Some uneducated people that u interact with have over $50,000 in cash in their matresses.

I have met many people while slinging tea who bragged about avoiding work and collecting welfare and have personally met quite a few who collect.
welfare, but do nothing to better their lot. You can blame the Halimo's and
faraah's, but nobody is going to help you get a break unless they see you are trying to help yourself and that concept is often lost on Somali's.
I don’t hate people who are suffering, I do get pissed at people who scam the system as they are stealing my money which supposed to help people in need.
I hate the women with a bunch of kids and no job, and they collect these Food checks redeemable at the grocery store. The problem with Somalis is that its too easy for Faraah to sh%t out 5-10 kids and collect welfare for eternity.
Abdi,
I hate to break it to you but if you stay on welfare your whole life you'll be poor your whole life.
